Aftermarket Keypad Removal

I have an aftermarket keypad that the dealer stuck on my door right above the door handle. I want to remove it and replace my door handle with the factory keypad. Has anyone removed one of these things, or something similar? It has some very strong double sided tape. What are the odds of getting that stuff off without damaging the paint? Any tips?

Is there going to be a hole where it went through the door?

No, these things are battery powered, just a transmitter.

I have removed several badges from vehicles with out any damage to the paint. Just take a piece of fishing line and run it between the key pad and the door. This will get it off you will probably have some left over residue then I use goo gone to stripe away anything left behind and then apply wax over the spot.

Use a heat gun or a hair dryer with fishing line and just pry from one side and if you do use tools use plenty of tape and towels as not to scratch the paint.

Do the badges have a strong double sticky tape on them? This stuff is strong. I ried a bit on it and was afraid I would stretch the metal.

The main reason I want to change is the battery is going on it and if I open it up, I doubt it will be water proof. Plus, it looks like a wart on the door.

Sounds like a plan. I may give it a try.

the tape is some pretty strong stuff. The fishing line kinda cuts the tape too so it won't pull the metal or scratch it.
