how do you remove door handles?

how do you remove door handles?

got a black o4 screw and want to paint my door handles black,they are fading... how the heck do i get them off to paint them? i just painted my grill from a tan to black and am wanting to paint it all thanx guys.

i spent 3 hours trying to take mine off. wwaste of time. im just going to mask off the whole damn truck and paint them on there.

Did you do it? My handles look terrible, too. I used the Restore Black stuff, it worked great for a few months, then back to faded out and terrible. I removed my wiper cowl and bedcaps, sprayed them and they look great.

I'm curious to know how it worked out re:masking off the whole truck - spraying-painting parts *on* the truck makes me nervous, even with masking things off...how did/do you mask off the entire truck good enough?

X2 on taking them off. I wouldnt want to risk over spray on my truck.

Guys if you e-mail me at BuckMaster0@hotmail.com Ill send you a nice .pdf file on how to remove your door handles. Im pretty sure I still have it. It does take a little time but its not that hard to remove and reinstall. Its a very nice write up and easy to follow.

I removed mine a while back and put new Chrome handles.

thats for you 2004+ guys. on my truck, there a screw on the lock rod which is in an awkward position and is nearly impossible to remove without risking not putting it back on properly.
