Paint Door Handles

I want to paint my door handles, but me and my friends are debating the best color. I have a the burgandy/tan f150 and want to do something with the handles. I want PTM. But my friends say glossy black. Or let them be. opinions?

Go with PTM, you won't see much difference in glossy black over what you have now. I just painted mine directly over the texture and IMO they look good check out my photos.

PTM = Paint To Match (body color)

i suggest sanding it down, priming, painting, and CC'ing. krylon might work, or you can buy specific coded Ford paint at an automotive shop. your choice. i prefer glossy.

is this possible to make look profession by someone like me, amateur? glossy like body. i'd have to get paint mixed at a local store and put in spray can because my aspen green doesn't come in a spray can, only touch up pen. sux. what sandpaper will get that texture fully smooth on something like the mirrors?

600 grit. Google automotive spray paint, you'll find what you need!

I just washed my truck then got some alcohol and cleaned all the remaining dirt and grease off and masked them off. I used threes coats of krylon fusion paint and 3 coats of clearcoat and it was done. I think darker color truck would look better to have the handles sanded down but white doesn't show the texture as much.

PTm but let the pros handle it, cheap spraypaint and amature painting skills will only lead to unhappy results. And a year from now youll be on here asking what would be the best way to take off that flaking chipping paint so that you can do it the right way.

If you wanna save yourself a few bucks, take the door handles off yourself, get them all apart and sand them yourself.
the texture is always a PITA, i know ive done two sets of handles and three sets of mirrors on the F150s

I used professional tools the last few times but i remember the first time.
get a small square sander, throw some 100 grit and get it all roughed up, then switch to 150 and smooth it a bit, and lastly do 220 on the sander. You may need to get some of the parts by hand where the sander wont reach.
after all that take some 320 and hand sand everything smooth.
the pros will then add a high build primer/sealer/adhesion promoter which will smooth any small scratches or imperfections, and then paint over that and it will come out looking like it was factory.
