Fender Vents

What's up with this new fad that's hit the scene? I think these things are a joke (no offense if anyone here likes them) A non functional hood scoop is one thing, at least they LOOK mean. I think these vents are stock on some Buicks, but they're showing up everywhere down here in Georgia, on Chevy trucks, Crown Vic's, even saw a set on a Pinto! I just don't understand the fad.

there are some out there that look real for the most part, one piece sets modeled after the escalade, but i just hate it when they make their own design and stretch them the whole fender!! EWWW

I don't like them. If they are not functional, then they are a waste! True fender vents look good. These stick on ones?

I see a minimum of 20 cars a day with the stick-on vents. Most of them are so crooked that it's hilarious.

Those look sweet as hell Thumper2001, now I don't have a problem with functional! It's the 3 or 4 stick on's in a row that are ridiculous. On my way home today (after posting originally) when I was walking out to my truck, I saw a customer in the parking lot that had put them on the top of his S10 like clearance lights! Where's a camera when you need it!!!!

Nassty...that car and your name are totally fitting of each other, lol.

I'm still considering adding functional vents on mine, like the Sport Trac Adrenaline has above (I've seen two of them in person now, they've finally started producing them woohoo!!!). A lot of people have the fake stick-on kind down here too, but that's just another way of identifying the ricers/posers.

A few guys with their own shops are doing their own mods with the functional vents though, and look really good. They even claim better performance...my guess being that airflow is better through the engine bay and the intake is drawing cooler air and not the ambient air heated by the engine.
