Trouble with HID

So last week, one of my HID bulbs didn't ignite, so I opened the hood and couldn't hear the ballast (passenger side) making the normal buzz it usually did when it was on.

Contacted HID4U and he sent out a new (well, it looked remanu'd), ballast in 2 days. Go to try this one and the same thing... no buzz from the ballast.

I double checked all connections, swapped the bulbs around (both work perfect), and still nothing from the passenger side. I've sent another e-mail to HID4U asking him for suggestions on if he thinks the 2nd ballast is also no good, or there's something wrong before the ballast that's killing it.

Any one hear have any ideas? I really just think I got unlucky and got another bad ballast. I would think that if it were the relay both sides would not work, but the drivers side (farthest from battery/relay) works.

And for you that are quick to flame HID4U for a cheap/inferior product, no... I'm not unhappy with them. They are a good price, and they are defiantly trying to help me out... which is +++ points in my book. (Although that new digital kit with the re-strike technology is quite interesting...)

Sorry to hear that man. Like I said both my ballasts went out within two weeks of each other. I got all 4 on now and no problems with the ballasts I do however have a problem with my brand new Bixenon bulb. When my second ballast went out I didn't even have to ship it. He just set another ballast with the first one that he was sending.

rs, did the second ballast he sent you look remanufactured?

The replacement I got had no stickers on it or anything like that... just a plain ballast.

Looked brand new. The ballasts actually came in a box inside a box, like the ballasts got sent to him from the manufacturer and he just shipped them to me. They didn't come in the black xenon box too. Just two ballasts in a usps box with a couple pieces of double sided tape.

all i could say, is check the passenger ground. Couldnt really think of much else besides the baalast or bulb being bad...

Maybe the relay melted or something too...

Sorry for your troubles... :o

I would think if the relay is fried the drivers side wouldn't work either... maybe just the passenger side wires from the relay are no good or something... who knows?

As for the ground... the only thing that would make a ground bad is if it weren't secured to metal right? I used the factory ground next to the battery and its nice and tight.

i used the screw by the battery too to ground my harness and i drilled one in the wheel well for the ballast.

and still my passenger side light only work whens its touching metal so thats why i have it taped to the wheel well.

whats weird is that the drivers side ballast is zip tied to the plastic part and it works fine
