A/C Vents - Ebay ?

Got a question for you guys. I bid on a set of A/C vent things in black with the chrome ring. I thought it would be cool since mine are just black. Anyway, the auction ended and I got outbid. Exactly 8 minutes later I got offered a 2nd chance offer. Does that seem kind of odd to you guys? I have been a seller on ebay for some time and I consider myself a very honest seller. It looks to me like the seller bid against me with a separate account. Here is the auction. Not sure if you guys can see the bidding history. I want to accepted the 2nd chance offer but I have a problem supporting a seller if that is what happened. Let me know what you think.

I guess I should tell why I think this. Did it really only take 8 minutes to find out from the last minute bidder that they did not want these? Also, why would that winning bidder risk their 100% positive feedback just to back out on a 40.00 item? It just seems kind of fishy to me. Is 40.00 a good price for these vents? I still want them, even if its not through this auction.

Yeah, I wondered the same thing on an auction for my tuner - I said the heck with it anyways and paid $10 more just because. I'm sure they are pulling some b.s.

i thought the way a second chance offer works it that u let the second highest bidder have the product for the price they bid on it. so in theory shouldnt u be paying less for the item than if u won? thats the way it worked when i sold my g/f's phone. the guy they had the second highest bid got the phone for the bid he put down, not the winning bid....

Thats true but I was out bid. Then 8 minutes later I am offered a 2nd chance. Seems like the seller bid against me to drive the price up. Then, when I did not counter bid in time, they offered the 2nd chance to take what I offered anyway. 8 minutes doesn't seem long enough to rule out a higher bid. make sense?

Blue150 thats not uncommon to happen at all.

Example: I use to sell golf head covers on e-bay at one time.
I had 50 of the same. They cost me $1.00 each. When one would sell or lets say $12.00 and I seen someone get out bidded at $11.00 there was many times I would send them a 2nd chance offer. Heck I was still making 10X my money!

Im still making a profit. On top of that I dont have to pay the relisting fee again I dont think. Regardless I was still making a profit and saving time by doing this saveing trips to the post office ect..
So again if the seller has good feedback and still want them would accept the offer. I think you have what 24 or 48 hours to respond.
Hope that makes since.

Yeah, maybe he just had more than one quanity of them, it's easier than relisting and waiting a day or more for the next to sell.

yea i can understand someone doing that. they tried to get u to pay more, but when u didnt fall for it, they thought to themself, "its still $$$!" and took your offer. its still kinda shady though.
