HID/Fog/9145/HID4U question

For those of you with the kits from HID4U on ebay that got the 9145 for the fog lights, did he have them in 6000k?

Reason I ask is because I don't see the 9145 in 6000k. His e-bay listings for 9145 go from 5000k to 8000k. I'd like the fogs to match my heads (6000k).

I know I can go with a 9005 (which he does have 6000k for), but I think I remember reading that the 9005 is a brighter bulb... which is not really what I'm looking for. I'd like to be able to have the fogs on most of the time with the heads, I don't want to be blinding people with a 9005 bulb in my fogs.

I may be wrong on this but in HID lighting, I believe the numbers are just for fitment and the light remains the same based on the K factor. I do not believe there is any difference between the light output on the 9005 and the 9145 bulbs within the same K range. I am sure that someone with more knowledge than myself will chime in here though.

I'm pretty sure the 9005 is a high-beam bulb... hence the reason some people with the 06+ models can't run them because of the smaller, round fog housing, buy 04-05 can due to the larger square fog setup.

I've sent a message to HID4U to see if he has the 9145 in 6000k, if not... I'll just get the 9005's.

The 9005 is a high beam bulb in regular lighting which is a higher wattage bulb and it will get hotter and thus possibly melt the smaller housings but if I am not mistaken, all of the HID bulbs pull the same amperage within the same K scale and provide the same light output. In other words, a 9145 and a 9005 in the 6000K are both identical in every way except for the base that goes into the light housing. Someone please correct me if I am wrong here.

Email him and ask him. I got the 6K in the headlights and fogs. He probably just doesn't have the listing up.

Yea I shot him an e-mail, I'll let you know when he gets back to me. I know they have the 9145 in 6000k... like you guys said he probably just doesn't have it listed.

As for the 9145 - 9005 situation... is it difficult to get the 9005s in the 9145 housing? Or does it just require a little more effort to get it in there?

Shipping wise, took mine 4 days to get here and I'm in Boston. Them came Fed-ex.

My fog HIDs are 9145, 6000k.

Remember, you also need to buy a relay harness separately.

I got my fog kit from HID4U. He must not have it listed currently.

I got the wiring harness separately on ebay for pretty cheap. 10 bucks or so.

For the OP...you won't need a relay harness for the fog lamp conversion. The plug from the original lamp will plug directly into the ballast and will draw less power through the wiring than the halogens do. The 9145 and the 9005 both have the same base (just don't ever use a 9005 halogen bulb in the round housings..it will melt over time..I know !! )

Yea I've got the square housings... so not to worried about any melting.

As for the 9005/9145... is the 9005 brighter because it is a high-beam bulb? Also... I've seen both statements saying I'll need a relay/I wont need a relay for the fogs. I know the fogs are 100% plug-and-play... can anyone else back him up in the statement that it doesn't need a relay?

I just want to make sure I don't install it all and then figure out the fogs need a relay like the heads do.
