I bought a H10 Xenon fog light bulbs for my 06 F150 and I install and turned them on for about 2 minutes and one of the lights exploded in the light casing. Can anyone tell me why did this happen???

Did you touch the bulb during installation?

Any imperfections on the glass can cause problems (including oil from your skin).

If not, you possible wired something incorrectly.

EDIT: Just noticed something... you said H10... aren't our trucks H13?

I know I didn't touch it and I took it out the package holding the black section of the light. I was even cautious putting them in to make sure I didn't touch the bulb on the sidewalls of the housing to install them. I don't know what happened. I do know I going get my money back or getting new bulbs tommorrow. I just don't know how I'm going to get the I cloudy dust out of the housing

Had to be touched, maybe not by you, but by someone.

You mean H10/9145...

That's the right part for the fogs. I always wipe down bulbs with a little alcohol wipe (the kind you'd find in first aid kits) before installing them. I learned to do that many years ago while installing stage lights. Same deal, if there's any oil on the bulb, it will explode, not good when someone is on stage.

agree with eveyrone... oil from fingers... or imperfection due to production.... etc.

oil form the fingers creates an intense hotspot... draws heat to the one tiny area.. and boom

X2 on that. I had a regular bulb explode in my fogs not too long ago. Had condensation in the one that didn't explode, might have had it in the one that did too. Either way, got both housings replaced under warranty.

If you do accidentally touch it, can you use a cloth or something to rub it off?

The alcohol will get rid of any oils on the bulb.

I usually clean my bulbs with alcohol before installing too.
