"Cool White" LED Bed Lighting
"Cool White" LED Bed Lighting
I'm currently working on Project "White Lightning" which is basically a light upgrade on EVERYTHING in my truck. LED's to replace incandescents, L heads, and HIDs later on. Well part of my project is putting two (unknown length yet, price is a factor) long strips of "cool white" LEDs down the bottom of the bed rails of my truck and mount a switch in the cab to offer extra lighting at night. I think it would match perfectly with my LED dome light. What do you all think? I checked out Oznium, they have a 3 week hold on the cool white LED strips but I think its a great idea.
I like the idea too. But if you check a supplier like SuperBrightLEDs, my guess is you'll find some LEDs to replace the "cargo lights" on the back of your cab (that is if you haven't done this already).
I wanted to replace all the interior lights with LEDs, including the exterior mirror "puddle lights" on my truck. I was really disappointed when I pulled one of the puddle lights out and found it was a "sealed bulb, lens, unit assembly" (kind of like a tiny sealed beam headlight)- no obvious way to get into the thing to replace the bulb.

I've got the all red CHMSL unit. Just the one brake light. I was thinking of adding the 2 bulbs and making all 3 of them a big large brakelight, its got the opening for them, all I have to do is add them and splice the wire. Maybe later on I'll get the Recon unit. Besides, this LED strip idea would be much more brighter and cooler looking!
