driving lights behind grille

Well i went and bought 4 hella 55w driving lamps today and was going to install them behind my grille but i dont have the right stuff to install them at the moment and was wondering if anyone on here has attempted to fit 4 lights behind their grille.. they are 6" in diameter, i think i will angle the outside lights into the ditches more and then the inside lights more forward..

Thank you for any input

Hey Alex,

I'm Alex too and although I don't have as big- or as many, here's how I mounted mine. Used the stock brackets and screwed into the plastci thingy behind the grille. Dont forget you can mount 2 on the top grille and 2 on the lower valence if you want

does that bracket come as part of a kit, or is it custom?

I made the brackets. Used 1" metal straps and L shape straps , some nuts and bolts . A little welding, some drilling And some bending on a vise.

I just thought of something guys- how are we supposed to clean ours (for the pre-04 guys with non-moving grilles) I guess I'll take mine out to clean them and stop by autoZone and get 2 more 100W bulbs for my Fog lights and re-aim them while I'm at it.

Edit: Woot, I get paid today!

The wiring is pissing me off thought cause they are supposed to be hooked up through my high beams so they go off when i turn on the high beams.. I want to bypass that but i dont know how to do it.. if anyone could help me with this i could scan the manual and then post it on here..

Hey Raatikainen22 this look awesome! Mind if i ask how you mounted them? Wouldn't mind getting some of those on my truck. Can't wait to see them once they are working.

Well if you look behind your grille of your truck there is a bar that runs across the back of your grille that i mounted them to.. it was quite easy to mount them.. the only thing is that i am electrically declined lol so i'm waiting for my electronic's/auto's teacher to give me a hand with the functionality part of it..

like i said it was really easy to mount them and they only cost $70 (free for me actually cause i paid with casino winnings haha)

Hi Raat!
I'm thinking of doing the same thing on my '99 150. How hard was it to install the lights onto that bar behind the grill?

it was simple! the only hard thing for me is the electrical/wiring element of it..lol

this was really an easy mod, i recommend it to anyone thinking about doing it on the 97-03 year trucks!
