Bull bars and front license plates

Anybody running bull bars with front license plates? I ask because I was looking at Dirty ****'s pics and was trying to figure out how I could pull that off living in a state that requires a front plate. I'd hate to give the cops any extra stupid simple reasons to pull me over. Is it possible and does it look like total crap with how you have to do it?

Here's a pic of his sweet looking truck so you can see what I'm talking about.

Factory tint. Zip tied would be awful looking. I didn't know if there were any mounting kits or such to allow mounting it to the bull bar in some nice way.

Do the state law say it just has to be displayed or does it have to be easily read while displayed?

There may be a way around the law.

Well, I might see where you are going, so...I'll tell you what I know of the Texas law...since I'll be moving back there. There's two separate laws. One saying you have to have a front plate (though I read that there's a bill to remove this but hasn't yet been put through, one can only hope) and a second one saying that you can't have anything obstructing/covering your plate. This is targeted at those who put tinted covers over their plates, but I guess could be used for other reasons.

I just know that some of the bumper guards out there do in fact have mounting options. I was just looking to see if the bull bars have them as well since I think they look better.

VA requires front plates.

I thought the license relocation kit was a waste of money so I just drilled two holes into my bumper for the top screws and the bottom holes, though have screws in them, are just dummies.

Worked like a charm.

Westin makes a license plate relocation kit for their bull bar. NC doesn't require one, so I've never actually seen it.

I'd mount it was below on or near the facotry skid plate. It's on there and it's not covered. Does it say it must be in plain sight?

In WI we have to have one but it's not enforced.

BUILT54 mounted his pretty low.

My dad got pulled over once by a cop who wascomming down the on ramp while my dad was already on the interstate. The old man had one but it was so cold on Lake Winnebago while ice fishing that the plastic snapped and it fell off and is now at the bottem of the lake. Cop told him he needs a new one. I don't have one on my truck though.

Interesting info guys. And with the talk of the relocation kit and Grubrunner's pic, I wonder if my truck has the relocation kit. I didn't know any difference as I bought it used till someone posted up asking about my plate location and I noticed it was in fact different from others. The plate mount looks very stock so perhaps it's one of these kits.

Thanks for the info and the pics guys. Of course, I'd be interested in more pics if anybody wants to post them.

Also, it looks like grubrunner has his lights further apart than ****'s are to allow for the plate.

Westin Bull Bar w/Plate Relocation Kit Pic

Not sure if you're still interested, but I had the SS/chrome Westin Bar installed as well as the plate relocation kit, and took this pic right after completion of the installation (lol, you can see the lights still have the covers on them).

I know guys complain about the front license plate, but maybe b/c I've lived in Ohio so long (& I see that's where ur @ too) it's not that big of a deal to me. I know that you have to have one, but I know my sis drove around w/out it for quite a while b4 getting one (never pulled over) and I'm not sure how "in plain sight" it is legally suppossed to be...

P.S.
BTW, I really love how that yellow color looks on your ride. If you had asked me before seeing it what I would've thought of a yellow F-150, I prob would've slapped you, but that looks really sweet!

Around here you can buy Suburbans and Silverados from the NC DOT once they've ragged the vehicle out and they come in that lovely yellow!

Well, your plate looks like it's in the same position as my relocated plate so I'd definitely say you have some type of relocation kit.... or maybe even just screwed into the front bumper like mine is.

It's not where the OEM plate is suppose to be.

My PIAA's are mounted in the Westin OEM mounting holes.
