Autozone sells bulb covers in at least 4 colors in packs of 2 for $3. Slide em right over the bulbs and you get new colors.

Don't know if it's different in the pre-2004 models, but 2004+ the color is from a film in the cluster. Colored bulbs do nothing, you have to disassemble the cluster and scrape off the film. Another member here did it and ruined their odometer display in the process.

from 97-2002 its a film as well.. but LEDS are strong enough to go through and not be effected by colour change as they are much much brighter.

i've seen it done numerous times...

example on 97-98:
(stock has the aqua/teal film)

posted on another forum... bud, like i said... just replace your cluster bulbs with wide angle LEDS(to avoid hotspots like shown) and your set.

Get your facts straight Graffix .. The only reason it looks like thier is "HOT SPOTS" in the center of this is the the #74 bulbs were not used a small led was fit in it's place with the proper LED used you should not get the "HOT SPOT" look

was a general statement... wide angle leds will avoid hotspots... take it how you want. i wasn't just talking about the bright spots. but how the glow is uneven... ie around fuel tach etc.

i have tested it myself recently... and with regular #194 leds - not wide angle you will get hotspots.

then i retract statement about your cluster...

but wide angle leds... imo are still the best choice.

has anyone tried white leds? i took apart my non tached cluster and noticed the film is actually blue.
