toolbox or no toolbox?

ive been contmeplating on getting a black toolbox for my truck...i love the way they look and theyre really handy but then again i dont like how they make the bed shorter for hauling things (fourhweeler in particular) so u guys with a tool box, is it worth "shrinking" the bed?

I do motocross and having it is great for me! I love the extra space to put everything in for wen I go riding and I keep a bunch of safety/recovery items in it. I love my toolbox I would definitely get one again if I had the choice

Yeah it shortens the bed but you could always leave the tailgate down when your fourwheeler is in the back. i say get on its very handy. just get a bed extender for when you need more space

Toolbox!! Since I live near campus now at U. of Kentucky, I keep all my camping gear in mine because I dont have alot of storage room at my place.

Plus most still have a good amount of room underneath them, because they dont go all the way to the bed, so you still have room underneath them for bigger things, like sheets of plywood and lumber, etc.
Also, try to get the Low-profile type. I have a black low-profile toolbox and it looks great against the Dark Shadow Gray. My toolbox looks pretty much like this one:

I hated having it in, but loved the extra space. I didnt like seeing the low-pro after a while, it took away from the look of the truck. Then I got a chest box and didnt care for it either...I just gave up after that. I like the tuffy box but dont want to shell out that cash for a box that small.....just my experiences/.02

I love mine. The low-pro is cool. Wish I had more space, but when I see the big boxes I don't really like it as much. Thinking about getting a wheel-well box (one that sits under the rail.)

When something's too big I drop the tailgate and take my straps out of the toolbox to secure it. I got all my crap for my boat in there and it comes in real handy.

I bought a black tool box from lowes for $50 I think, it locks in the front and sits below the bed. I have it secured to the back of the bed with a bungy cord.

Right now, I have a flip up toneau cover with shocks, it works like a hatchback would on a car. Goes up about 45 degrees. So, if I do need to get into my tool box, which is rarely, I can manage it relatively easy. Just unhook the bungy and slide it forward...

I just picked up a quad also and I am hoping it'll fit in the bed of my Screw, but I won't know until spring. But if I need to take the tool box out and the toneau off, it isn't too much of a PITA I guess.

Tool box x 10000000. Had one in my short bed and loved it. Just drop the tailgate for big things. Remember, 2x4s, plywood, etc, will still fit in UNDER the box.

i love my toolbox just to throw random **** in there and things i might need jsut incase of emergencys so its not sitting in my rear seats but also if ur worried about how much space will have take an avg. measurements and see how much of the bed it will take up and then go from there but imo i think they look good i love the black too

I'd love to have the extra space (books and crap take up my cargo back seat dropped down) but I really dont like the look of them unless you intend on slapping on some mud tires, a lift kit, and a huge CB whip anntenna

I will be adding one to my 5.5' bed SCREW shortly - I need the extra storage, I always seem to fill the back seat up with junk. Thank god for bed extenders!
