Sliver Stars

im goin to autozone tmr to get some sliverstar h13 headlights, i remember reading on here that you can put 9005s in the fogs instead of the standard size 9145. how much better is the light output on the fogs between the 2 diff bulb size. i have an 05 with the rectanglular fogs btw.

9145 is a 45w and are pretty darn bright if you ask me.

9005 is a 65w and is real bright,

but I read some people have had problems with the housing melting cause of the heat and others have had no problems at all, I just went with the 9145 and I am really happy with them.

the melting housing issue is with the 2006 and up with the round fog lights. the square headlights will work just fine.

To use the 9005 you have to cut part of the tabs off so they can turn and lock in. Be careful not to cut to much otherwise they won't stay in.

X2 on that one. I have the 9005's in my '05 and have over 60,000 miles with no problems.

yesterday i put the 9005's ultras in the fogs (sorry no pics), no modification required, fit perfectly. i m waiting till my new headlights get here from ebay to do the sliverstars in the heads, but it is already such a big difference with just the fogs. i cant believe the results for just $40 bulbs (fogs) can do. it is a nice white color and much brighter than my h13 headlights. Big difference, well worth every penny imo.

I have the ultras in my heads with ultra 9005 in my fogs and during a 7 hour trip to Ocean City they melted the rear of the housing. They are stock sized fogs but are the crystal clear ones from ebay. Kinda like Built54's but diff shape. When i get new housings i'll be putting the right ones in. But until then, 4 high beams it is!
