I have searched all over to try to keep from posting something that has already been beaten to death but I haven't really found an answer yet so.......

I would like to replace the headlights and corners on my 03 with something like SVT Lightning pieces for that clear, modern look. I like the SVT pieces because they are two piece and will keep the OEM look. Obviously, money is an issue. I found some on ebay that I can afford but if they are going to leak or turn into bathroom glass I don't even want to waste my money. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Also, I see that a lot of people have went with Depo or TYC. Any opinions on these? And anyone have a link to sites for these manufacturers? The only place I have been able to find their products is through other dealers. Thanks.

 

I put the svt lightning headlights on my 03. Im my opinion they look great. I think they completely change the look of the front of the truck. I bought mine from a local svt parts dealer. It was more expensive but i didnt want to deal with shipping and handling plus i wanted them quick lol. They might be a little expensive but from my experience they are a quality product.

 

My advice is to get it right the first time. If you buy the cheap lights they WILL leak. They are a lot of money but they will be worth it because the fit and look will be perfect and you will not have to do deal with the hassle when they leak.

 

I agree if you want to make sure you get the OEM quality get the SVT pieces for a little more for the piece of mine. But if you are ok with getting the aftermarket ones I would suggest the Depo ones, I feel and have read they are better quality than the TYC's. I have had Depo's for 3yrs now and haven't had any probs or leaks and still look great. I prob going to update the corners in next couple months with a black version of the lightning ones bc the ones that came with my heads don't have any reflectors(like the lighting ones along the bottom) and some places have been crackin' down on that too.

 

I bought my "L" heads and corners on a Ligtning forum uesed. No complaints, paid maybe 85 bucks for them. Look great! Very pleased...

 

Go with the genuine SVT (FoMoCo) stuff. Visteon makes these parts for Ford and does a great job. You'll rarely, if ever, read about an OE part leaking.

That said, you read ALL THE TIME about some of these lesser quality aftermarket ebay parts leaking -- heck, I've got posts on here that reflect the cheap-o ebay stuff leaking on my truck.

i have an old set of corners. I had em on for two years,and they still look good. check my gallery. they are the ones with the apc projectors. if interested let me know. the corners never had any leaking....

 

Thanks for all the information. I think I have pretty much narrowed it down to either factory SVT pieces or Depo pieces. I found some Depo pieces on Ebay for about $160 with shipping but they have some sort of projector light added in which I don't really like. There are also some factory SVT pieces for about $300 which is really more than I wanted to spend seeing as how my factory lights are fine, lol. Anyone know a cheaper place to get the SVTs? Or a site that sells a Depo SVT repro without the additional projector built in?
