Ok, so it comes with double-sided tape and you guys just did the bolting jobs on your own occasions? I'd rather have a bolt-on also, but its harder work and just incase I need to remove it, I don't want two big holes in my tailgate. I think I'll get home and buy one today. My decision is set: the 60" Fire and Ice! Now if only I can find a new one for cheaper than $69.95...

Where did you guys get yours from and for how much if you don't mind me asking?

 

The two sided tape will not hold up especially in the hotter climates. My line of fire eventually came off and I had to screw it to my truck.

 

i live in one of the most humid/hot cities in texas. mine has been on with double sided tape for 6 months and it wount budge

 

Ok, well I'm piqued right now. I couldn't wait any longer and hopped on down to my local AutoZone and bought a cheap $30 Bully LED Fire Bar. Well, it dosent feature the reverse lamps, and it comes in three pieces (three times harder to align). Before I jumped the gun on excitment of getting one again, I first tried it out. Blinkers...are those zippy line ones that zip from the middle to the edge instead of the steady blink the F&I has. Brakes, work. Running lights, work. But....brakes and running lights, only one works at a time, not both. Blinkers and brakes....only one at a time, not both. So now I'm going to head back to AutoZone and get my money back and be pissed for another week and a half until I'm able to put some money on my debit card, find a F&I for sale, buy it, and wait for it to arrive.

Grrrrr....I hate cheap crap!

Lesson learned: Good things come to those who wait...

Nah, I found what I want. The 60" F&I for only $80, includes S&H. I'm prolly going to buy it today when I get home. AutoZone took back that POS with no questions asked

 

A couple of words of advice here. I have the Fire & Ice bar that I bought through Stylin Concepts and it's hard mounted (screws) and hard wired (no Trailer plug). There are a number of cheap immitation LED bars out there of varying levels of quality. I've seen a number of cheaper ones with sections burned out in pretty short order, so beware.

As for the installation, I too would recommend "measure twice and drill once" since any imperfection will show up big time at night. (Crooked bar = stupid driver.) I'd also recommend hard wiring to avoid trailer plug problems - with one big caution. The instructions that come with the Fire & Ice are typical Chinese - which is to say incorrect. If you passed Electricity 101 though, you'll find and be able to correct the error pretty easily.

As for straight red vs. white and amber options, the red LEDs show up far better than the whites on my truck. The white LED's just added a certain "cool factor" that I couldn't resist. Comments have been 100% positive on it too.

 

Well I just ordered my F&I from Vanhorn Tint & Accessories for $70 + $10 for S&H. Can't wait until it arrives. I've got my 4-pin connected to a upgrade 6-pin for my brake system I have in my cab, so I'll end up hard-wiring it anyway. If it looks easy, I might even drill, but until I see it, so far I'm going to let it stick.

 

Hey, I just installed my Fire and ice on my 03 supercrew and plugged it in to the 4 pin, and it doesnt work...!?

 

did you make sure the plug was hot??

 

wish I knew what that means, it worked for a second and then no more. Do I have to install the white wire or can I run it without installing the white wire.

 

Just put my bar on last week. Got it off e-bay and took 2 weeks to ship to Canada. Looks fricking sweet. Line of Fire... no reverse lights... i dont wanna hard wire.

Its been in 7*C weather down to -5*C weather and with snow and moisture and all is good!
