What is the factory tint level?

I just purchased a '06 Supercrew Lariat that comes with the factory privacy tint on the rear side windows and rear window. Does anyone know what tint this is?

Thanks!

I'm also curious about this. I'd like to have the front windows done to match the rears and the back glass. Isn't there some way they can tell at the tint place?

As I understand it, the privacy glass has a dark tint to it, but it doesn't have any UV protection. If you do the tint, don't just do the front windows, do the rears for UV protection also.

I did mine the "legal" limit here in S.C. With the privacy glass in the rear, there is a definite difference in darkness between the front and rear even though they were the same %. When I finally get the chance, I'll probably go 5% darker on the front to match them up. Sorry, I forget the actual numbers right now, but the dealer should be able to tell you easily.

The front driver and pax windows are at 78%.

The back privacy glass should be about 20%.

Did my '06 with 15% on the front windows about 6 months ago....matches the rear privacy glass very well.

That sucks. If it's 20% then I will not be able to legally matchup the front driver and passenger door glass with the cab glass. Legal limit is 35% here.

If you are driving in another state that is even stricker on the tint (such as 50% - I live close to the state border) then can you get pulled over/ticket for having 35% tint in a state where the legal limit is 50%?

Normally if you are legal in your state, your ok anywhere else. I live close to California that allows no tint on the front and have never been stopped for it.

Talking 18%

The guy who does my window tint told me years ago, ford factory is at 18%
I have 20% on my front two, and it matches darn good.

I had my front two windows done with 3M 20%, it matches very close to the rears factory tint.
