Tint

I put 5% over my window with the stock 20%, but its still not dark enought during the day in this cali sun. im contemplating on etiher taking off the 5, and putting on this 2% tint I got, or just throwing the 2% over the 5%. I just dont wanna put the 2 and still be unhappy with it. what do you guys think?

Hey another NorCal'er here...

I don't know man, I'm nervous enough about getting "unwanted" attention with my 32% on my front two windows. Are you tinting your driver and passenger window, or all the windows behind you?...

I guess I would remove the 5% and apply the 2% if you still need it darker. I've heard you can only do so many layers.

If you put the 5% on top of the factory tint and it's still not dark enough, I don't think that another 3% is going to make much difference. That's already pretty dark. Have you tried black paint?

Yea don't put the 2% over the 5, Just do what you said and take the 5 off, and replace it with the 2. How dark do you want it? Jesus

I already have 35% on my fronts. I think ill just throw the 2% on over the stock. I want it dark enought that durning the day when u look in from the back you cant see the outline of who is inside.

sure thing dougie...

here's my 35% fronts from the in looking out...

and here is the back. it looks dark here, but thats because its late in the evening with my house in front of the windshield.

ill try to take a pic tomorrow when im at the lake (its susposed to be 112F. there tomrrow) with the sun in front of the windshield, so u can see how u can easily see in through the back window.

im doing 20% on mine. man, 2% + the stock tint is dark. but maybe you would want to look into vinyl if the outlines really bother you that much. cops out there dont mess with you? i would think that's a safety issue for them.

in cali you can have it as dark as you want on the backs. my father was a cop for 5 years, and is now D.A. for a major county. I am going into the lawenforcement field and have done a couple ride alongs with local cops. most of them say they wont pull u over for that, but if ur speeding and then are a jerk, they will get you for the tint as well. also they said it makes them feel A LOT better if you do get pulled over, pull over, turn on ur interior lights. (helps them see in) and rest both ur hands out your windows. that way they know your not concealing anything. i dont have very dark front windows at all, so when i drive by them they can easily see me inside of my truck.

well that's cool. go for it if that's what you like. does it pose a problem when backing around at night?

i had 5 over 20% on my old 95VW and i always had a problem backing up

right now i can see fine out the back with my 5. sometimes its pretty hairy though. i guess my eyes are still young (18) my mom hates driving my truck. she says it feels like shes in a black box. i will hopefully be putting the 2% on sometime this week, this weekend was shot with working over time and then a trip to the lake.

When you guys are talking about doing 20% all the way around, do you remove the stock (I'm assuming) 35% on the rears? I'm sure this sounds like a stupid question, but I just got my truck about a month ago, and am pretty new to the boards.

Also, what kinda prices are you looking at to do 20% all the way around? Thanks!

My 15% all the way around does the trick. Dark enough so you dont know who i am but light enough at night to see where i am going.
