Bed Cover & Grill

New to the forum, and new to owning a 150.
2004 XLT... black over chrome... looks sweet!

I want to put a cover for the bed, and I am thinking about replacing the grill (biilet style). I'm looking for some experienced advice before I do this.

Bed cover: Soft or hard? (I like the look of the hard covers). What's the best type and best brand?

Grill: I like the look of the billet style grills. Do any come with the Ford emblem, or can put a Ford emblem on one? Again... best brand?

Thanks!

Hey Ken,

Welcome to the boards! - How much do you have in your budget for a cover if you don't mind me asking? Prices are all over the place...Let us know and we can better assist. I had a softcover and ditched it. I am much happier with the hardcover. I have a undercover, www.undercoverinfo.com - also check out my gallery for pics. People will chime in with their preferences also, I'm sure!

I'm don't have any insight about the grills though

Cheers

Thanks, but I like the look of the hard covers (something I can wax).
Money is really no big deal as long as it's worth it.

A painted hardcover to match you are probably looking at 800-1200 beans....

Just my .02 but I went with the Undercover on my Black '06 Lariat. Looks great, super easy install and it is super strong. ARE's are nice if you want a fiberglass tonneau (graeat looking paint and fit but sure are more money than the $500-600 mentioned above), had one on my '98, but it developed a few cracks from being jostled around a lot. One of the reasons I keep buying trucks is the tough factor.

Best of luck and welcome to the site, folks here are real nice and helpful.

I have installed both and I am partial to the ARE covers. They seal much better than the Undercover, and look a whole lot better too.

Two places. Check ebay. Place on ebay selling them free shipping for $525. Offer him $475 and he will take it. Also I have talked couple people who have bought them. Said they like them and all. Second place to check, is JcWhitney. They have them going for $535 shipped to your door. Both are fiberglass, just trying to help you.

There is no way that those covers are ARE covers for that price. And it also means that they probably dont come painted or with a manufacterer's warranty. Spend more in the beggining to save more in the future.

They aren't just saying for his price range. Also he can get warranty for life on both of them.

Hey Ken, I'm also new to the truck game. I bought my F150 Lariat supercrew back in December and love it. I just purchased a Ranch Sportlid a few weeks ago and think that it's a pretty sharp looking addition. Sits pretty high though which further obstructs the view from the rearview mirror. (Only an issue when small cars are on my bumper!)
But I can live with that. I have one of the newer models which comes with a modified lock/lift handle. Really nice except that the key cover has the dealers logo and number on it! I'm not much for advertising on my ride! Looking to remove it when I find a Ford emblem that will fit the opening. Anyone have an ideas?
