HELP!...What front bumper is this??

I am looking to replace my front bumper on my 98 F1 after a little accident.
The one on there now is painted....and after sorting out all those damn chrome ones i have come across one on ebay...

They say it is a 97-98 and thats it!

It looks like it has the 4x4 driving light holes, but it has a uniform edge on thefront?....from what i've seen, the 4x4 ones have a slight 'set-back' over the center or something..

is this like in-between the 2wd and 4x4 bumper?, or is it missing all the other peices and looks weird

this is the only pic they had

It sure looks like the 97/98. The bumper is concave and is a straight line across the top. The 99-03 were convex and had a dip in the center section for a larger grill.
Also only the 4x4s came with fog lamps, so this is for a 4x4.

well, on the 97-98 4x4 bumper there is the set-back on the front, not just where the bigger grille is on the 99+

this is a 98

and here is a 99...

totally looks like the 97-98 fogs, with a 99+ smooth front...

The bottom air dam does look a bit different, but I would say they were the same.

you should upgrade to the 99+ front while you are buying parts anyways, unless you just love the 98 front.

that would just involve the actual bumper and the grille assembly...correct??

what i REALLY want is a newer STX front with the round fogs

...but they seem to be nearly impossible to come across

yea grill, and bumper covers, i dont know if the bumper itself actually converts over or not. I wanted to find a cheap used STX valence, because they are fairly common, compared to Harley or Lightning....

someone showed me this site the other day
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...03&catalogid=2
That has the entire Lightning cover listed as 50 bucks more then just the STX valence is...
So its not even worth it to me to pick up an STX valence, if its just 50 bucks more for the Lightning bumper.

the only problem i see with using a Lightning bumper cover is that it seems that you'd almost HAVE to have some other ground effects to make it flow right, since the Lightning one is lower...although i could be wrong

I personally think it looks fine with out it. Yes it hangs just a little lower then the factory one does, but with a little bit of modding, you can also close the gap under the grill a little, and mount it higher.

This is a gallery of a guy on here with a L bumper on a lowered Screw (no ground effects)
https://www.f150online.com/galleries...y.cfm?gnum=486

And i believe he just mounted his, ive only seen a few people that have the bumper mounted up higher.
