Acetone emblens help

I am new to this website. I have an 05 f-150 gibson headers, volant intake, hyper-tek, Air-aid spaer, dual flowmasters, anyway im working on the outside now and have read about acetone on the emblems. My truck is white, I have the Mojave black teflon coated wheels, i have the bottom of the entire truck, from the channel down, including the bumpers rhino-lined. The only chrome on it is the tailpipe tips, the lug nuts, and the grill. I was looking at buying replacement emblens(ovals)that had black instead of the blue, then I saw what some of you had done with the Acetone. Could someone please detail the process I need to do to get this done. Thanks. When im all done ill post pictures.

If the 05 Ovals are anything like the ones on my 01...I think they've been using a plastic material in them...all you have to do is heat it up and poke/pry the plastic material out. As far as the ovals are concerned anyway.

I took my front grill oval off, boiled it for 5 or so minutes then very carefully began working it out with a knife...careful not to damage the chrome.

I may be wrong but I think for the ovals that's all you need to do...if you notice the photos in the link above, they're of older style emblems, not the fancy beveled ones used on the newer trucks.

best of luck

I boiled it to help soften the material, and make it easier to remove...otherwise, you will probably end up scarring the chorme bevel trying to get it all out.

....that and I was just following the directions from folks who had done it before me

I have a new LT and removed the black paint on the driver and passenger side of the vehicle. The paint came off so easy. Alot easier than my older F-350 Superduty, but I want to remove the black paint on the Lincoln logo's that are on the front grille and tailgate. I tried removing the paint just as I did on the driver and passenger side badges to no avail. The black paint just doesn't come off. Does anyone know if these are different for some reason? They seem to be plastic rather than than steel. I would like to remove this black paint but I'm afraid of rubbing too hard and ruining the logo's. Thanks!!!

On the new ones (2004-2006), the blue color is not part of the plastic and will have to be acetoned off like the other emblems.
