DAVENSA & chad15adams, Our laws here in Pa differ in that you must have the amber reflector in the front and the red in the rear. There are all kinds of specs. to meet, but unless you plan on coming to PA anytime soon it's useless to tell you or give you sections of the vehicle code, which WAY differs from inspectoin violations. Here you are cited for PAVC Title 75 section 4704 (b)(2), Unlawful activities, then at the bottom of the citation you cite TITLE 67 section 175.??? for state law, and/or 167.??? , or 162.??? for federal mandated inspection regulations. As you see it can go very deep and get a bit complicated, so CHECK LOCALLY and see what is legal.

chad15adams ,

Its not worth the hassle take em off I never been to your town but if a cop pulls over for something that mundane he probably has nothing better to do. If your were in Houston or Los Angeles I would say leave em on they have more important calls like murders and robberies. I by no means anti-cop because I would be hard pressed to find any friend that would come to my house in the middle of the night to protect me because I saw some crazy looking dude with a shotgun outside my window, he/she would come to my house with out a second thought and put their lives in danger and they don't even know me. I have the upmost respect for police officers even though they seem to enforce laws that really don;t matter in the grand scheme of things.

I must admit, I have been pulled over twice this year for having blue lights in the grill. And they were not even on. I have the hide-a-way strobes on order from Galls now though

Infinatemhz, Ohh thats right, there is no murders orrobberies in Philly, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, or Harrisburg. I was just SWAT activated on Saturday night for a hostage situation, cause' some A__HOLE was breaking up w/ his girl and thought it would be a good idea for the 2 of them to be together forever---get my point. But guess what, I gave out 3 speeding tickets before that, guess why, nothin' better to do. I give a better explaination in the debate over clear corners, go take a look....1GoodCop.

DAVENSA,

That's a good idea, your the only one that I have seen that is from SA on this message board how many more are there.

1goodcop,

Houston and Los Angeles was just an example murders and robberies happen everywhere but they seem to happen more often in some places more than others. I understand that clear lenses are on the books as being illegal and should not be used and as an officer of the law you have a duty to enforce the law. I think the claim is that if you have them on you can be mistaken for an emergency vehicle, well if you run off the road and into the ditch because somebody behind you has solid blue headlight lenses then maybe you should not be driving.

The reasons mentioned above regarding displaying a blue light on a vehicle are the same reasons Lumi-Logos are illegal. I played dumb and said I was "Showing it to a couple of friends and forgot to turn it off" when they pulled me over one night in Ann Arbor, MI. Now, I just leave it off out there to be safe. That's what the switch is for.

I don't care what anybody says, it's rediculous to get pulled over for a lighted logo......blue or not, something that harmless.....it's just a little Ford emblem....

I am giving it some thought to becoming an officer, and would not issue a citiation for that.

God bless, if I was to put everything that I want that is electrical on a switch then I would have a dash full. I have blackouts all around and nothing has ever been said. In fact almost every truck you see around here has something done to it that is illegal(mainly blackouts). I agree with Mudder, something as petty as a lighted logo should slide. Now the blue on the fogs is a different story.

Exclamation

In UT a red or blue light visible from the front of the vehicle is illegal:

"(2) Except as required in Sections 41-6-132 and 41-6-140.10, a person may not drive or move any vehicle or equipment upon any highway with any lamp or device capable of displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front of the center of the vehicle."

http://www.le.state.ut.us/~code/TITL...m/41_04180.htm

why? so you aren't impersonating an emergency vehicle or peace officer (as stated above).

that was good one. just about laughed off my chair.

chad15adams--

this is just for you!

flashing blue or red lights are definitely illegal in your state unless you have an emergency or police vehicle (non-flashing lights? not sure but i would say don't do it--better safe than sorry). by the way, i found these through the state of KY's website at

http://www.lrc.state.ky.us/search.htm

remove the search.htm to look at the rest of the site.

Seems to me that if a "police officer" is having a bad day, he or she can make up almost any reason to cite someone and use the "law" to back him up. Kinda eliminates the whole checks and balances thing that government is supposed to have. Especially when you are considered guilty until proven innocent.
