billet grille question?????
i have a 1997 black f-150 xl and I am looking to get a chrome billet grille, I have the chrome surround grille like the one that can be at the top of all the f150online.com pages. I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of there trucks, preferably black, with the chrome surround and a billet grille insertion, also, where is a good cheap place to get one off the internet, sorry for all the questions but i want one so bad.

I think I have the setup you're talking about... I wouldn't recommend the grill I bought, the Steel Horse. It looks great, but it was a bitch to get in. The thing that drew me to it was the price, I bought it from JC WHITNEY at about $99.00. I think the other brand everyone has is the Stull Billet grill. Hope this helps

STB Truck accessories has pretty good pricing on the Stull Billets. I just put the brushed version in my chrome surround and also the bumper and looks great. Now, let me say this, the install is a beoch regardless of which brand you get. I had the tools to remove the center of my chrome surround and it was still a time consuming chore. Take your time with that part and all will turn out well......

fordteen33, you can get the steele horse billet grille over at pep boys. i think they go for around $100 bucks. I bought my stull grille over at customautoparts.com. It was the cheapest place i can find it for. they also have black billet grills! hope this helps
DGreen: nice lookin' truck.what tools were needed and what did you have to do. did you have to cut it out? could a sawzall be used or do i have to go with a dremel like tool?

i am thinking about a trenz billet grille polished, but i have yet to see one in a chrome surround, anyone have any pictures of one in a chrome surround, and where would be the cheapest place to get one, so far f150online.com is the cheapest, thanks
Here is the link to the grill on JC Whitney

Well, the install was easy up until attaching the brackets of the new grill to the truck. the bracket weren't long enough which causes the grill to sit recessed a bit. Also, there is NO way of getting a drill in between all the frames to drill holes for the bolts. I had to go to a mechanic who had a REALLY long drill bit who just drilled through everything that was in the way...I started to think that JC WHITNEY sent me the wrong part # (a grill for a different year truck) but I never checked. Don't get me wrong, the grill looks great now, after the modifications to make it work.

i had one hell of a time installing my grille. the instructions that came with the stull grille really sucked. anyways, they didn't tell me what tools i needed but ended up having to borrowing a drill and buy a rivet gun. but hey, the grill looks great now and i think it is worth it!!
I removed the front clip from my truck and the install of the Street Scenes grill looked great. I received many comps on it and not too many people have the same grill. I got mine at 4wheel parts for $88.00. It is held in place with clips that you need to notch for, but the grill was firmly set with no other mods to make. It can be left brushed or painted to match. The pic does not do that much but you can see it a little. Hope this helps
