Black billet grill
Not yet. But I remember seeing a post about one a few months back. Can't remember where you can get one...the thread has the link. I checked it out. They were there, and fairly reasonably priced too.
Please post URL if you find one.

Not just any chrome shop does black chrome.
I was trying to get some emblems black chromed on my Accord a year ago. I bought some off Ebay, but needed to chrome front one to match. I couldn't find anyone that would do it. i went to 4 chrome shops, and called about 30. Even called out of state. Good luck.

There is a metal called "Black Chrome" that you can have put on any billet grille at any chrome shop. I've never seen black chrome grilles for sale, but I've seen black painted grilles for sale. Sport Truck magazine customized a 92-96 Ford F150, and used black chrome on the grille, door handles, emblems, bumper, window surround, and any other stock chromed part a few years ago. I'm sure you can find pictures of it on the net somewhere to be sure it's what you're looking for. That truck was painted yellow with black stripes, and they called it some kind of "killer-bee" or "bee-something". I looked into black chrome since I have a 92 F150, and I loved the look, but it was way too expensive for me to black chrome my plastic peices. I wouldv'e had to ship it all to CA because that's the only place I could find to do plastic. Billet aluminum is easy. If you take your billet grille to a chrome shop, the price should be around $100 whether you want regular chrome, or black chrome. By the way, that's a great idea, and you almost never see black chrome, so you'll stand out if you do it. I wish I could do all my chrome in black chrome.
keoni...I installed the "Stull" Black Billet Grille yesterday and it looks great. I recommend it. See Orval's pics. I didn't put the Ford emblem back on mine. I thought it looked better without.

Mine was dropped shipped from "Stull". I called Stull with a question while I was installing the grille. They were extremely helpful. Spoke to Sam, who used to live here in Boise so it was homecomming time.
Good Luck

Called pickuptruckaccessories to order a Black Stull and was told they no longer have them and cannot get them. SO... I ordered a brushed grille and will paint it. This should pose no problem as long as I can find an aluminum primer.

I just talked with Stull and they relate they never offered Black grills. Also, I found that the grills DO NOT have a clear coat on them as I assumed but are just (on the front) uncoated aluminum. The backs are powder. That means to coat one you will have to have a primer that will etch the aluminum for a good bit before topcoating it. Being in the industrial paint business for years, I do know that aluminum will "gas" if not coated with the correct products. A catalyzed aluminum primer was what we used for aluminum painting but I am sure there are some single part products out there that will do the same job. Topcoating is the next concern and powder is recommended but any epoxy and preferably a urethane would be great also. I tend to favor urethanes. They have proven their abrasion resistance to me time and time again. Good luck.

DonnyD,
If Stull never offered a black grille then what is in the front of my truck? See pictures in this topic. It might be different if they said they no longer offer them. I still have the box that is dated October 2000 so it may have been in stock somewhere but my dealer ordered it in a few weeks ago for me. The Part # on the box for the grille that they did not offer is "5072-x" It says on the label "99 FD F150/Expedition" and obvisously fits the 99 and up trucks. I have it in a 2001 Supercrew.
In regard to the paint discussions, it is a black powdercoat as far as I can tell with my little paint expertise.

Orval,
I am simply relaying what Stull and Pickuptruckaccessories told me this week as I searched the net and called the businesses direct to try to get a black grill myself. Pickuptruckaccessories said they never handled them and Stull said they never made them. I certainly believe those of you who have them got them from somewhere but as of yet I have been unable to find one for myself. Now that you have posted the part number, I intend to try again.
So the issue is not what I said but what I was told.... I am simply passing along what I have been told by everyone I have called for one of these. So far, I have not been as fortunate as you.
