Removal of Dealer Badge?
How do you get the dealer badge (free advertising) off the tailgate? I thought about just pulling it off, but I don’t want to mess up the paint? I meant to tell him not to put it on when I ordered it but it slipped my mind.

I would take that back to the dealer and demand they remove it immediatley!!
When I bought my truck I specified that several times to the salesman, finace guy, sales manager and the prep guy and sure enough it was on there when I went to inspect it.
I walked back in the sales office and dropped the keys on their desk and said you can keep this friggen truck!
Needless to say it was off there in about 2 minutes! hehe

You could take it back and have them do it but I did mine myself. I just peeled off the stickers. I had to use my fingernail some because it would come off in chunks and I would have to restart it. Then I just took some rubbing alcohol and got the sticky stuff off. Took about 10 minutes.
If its a sticker or 3m tape, you can remove it pretty easy if you heat it up with a blow dryer and just peel it off.....The blow dryer will heat up the glue and presto offo.....Good luck Dave
Im hoping mine is held on with 3M tape, but it looks like it might be rivets, and I'm cautious about trying to remove it if it will leave holes. About w week ago (I just bought the explorer about a month ago) I sent a letter to teh dealers marketing department, gave them a few options. 1) Remove the logo, repair holes or peeled off or discolored paint wherever necessary... 2) PAY for the promotion (I gave a price of $250 or a years worth of Mobil 1 oil changes), or 3) have a very unhappy customer
. Needless to say they never responded, but i'ms ure theyll take #3 (sil-terhar ford in broomfield, colorado by the way)

What I've done with success in the past is used a sturdy rag. Take the edge, slide it up under an edge and slowly apply pressure. Like DAVENSA said, a heating it up a little should make it easier. Take your time and it should start to come up, release a little pressure as it comes off so you don't flip it off too quick leaving the oposite side digging into the paint.
Mine now has a decal that I swore I would have off the first week of having it. It's been over a year and I've learned to ignore it. I'm sure one day I'll get to it..

If it's a plastic emblem, try using 30 lb test fishing line behind it. Then Laquer Thinner to get the excess sticky stuff off.
If it's just a vinyl decal, scratch with your finger nail, then use the thinner to get the sticky stuff off or wax will do it too.

My friend has a product called Goo Be Gone that takes off the glue residue. I have seen it in the cleaning supplies department of super markets.

Thanks guys I got it off. It was a metal plate with some thick black glue behind it. First I heated it up with a hair dryer and tried to pull it off. I got my fingernail behind it but it wouldn't budge. I tried the fishing line trick, and it cut through the glue like a knife through butter. I wet it down with Goo-Off and let it sit a few minutes then rolled the glue off with my finger. I think a fingernail could scratch the paint. I immediately washed it to get rid of any Goo-Off residue and put a coat of wax on it. Thanks for all of your suggestions.

Whenever I make a deal for a new vehicle, I make it very clear that I will not accept delivery if it has any name plate, sticker, etc affixed to the car. If they ask about a license tag frame I always say 'sure.' And I take it off when I get home, but it makes them happy.
