Post Headlight switch removal

Does any1 know how to remove the small pannel that the headlight switch and dimmer are located. Im looking to add a wire to the dimmer and i figured the best place would be right off the dimmer itself.

Thanks ahead

The wcover plate is actually a part of the switch. If you use a little screwdriver at the notch in the bottom center, you should be able to pop the whole switch out. I mangled mine pulling it out because the clip in the upper right corner wouldn't release. There are cctually 3 clips: One at bottom center, one on the left side, and one on the top right corner. If you can't get it to pop out, don't force it! (Experience talking again) Pull off the bottom dash panel (about 12 bolts or so) and try pushing it out from the back side. That still didn't work for mine, and I mangled it in frustration! Then, once you have it out, the dimmer is the four wires on the right side in their own connector. Hope this helps.

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of buying a truck in the first place? Wouldn't clear the pot-holes around here, let alone the curbs, driveways, small furry rodents that dart out, small children that dart out, hondas, acuras, mitsus and other assorted imports that get in the way. :-)

Looks nice, though.... Did you have to modify the fender wells or the bed to get the clearance for the axle and suspension?

The rims r 20 by 8.5. Totally Polished in So. Cali did the bags and body drop (3 and 3/4 inches.) The 17s should tuck pretty easy, as long as u got the ones with lots of offset. Also assuming you got the fwd version, u should find the thinest adapters out there. Mine are 1 inch

I no longer have fenderwells, u open the hood and the tires r right there,, i also jad to modify the firewall to get them to fit. For the axle i hae a whole in the bed floor for the axle and notch to come through. Im gonna take some sheetmetal and cover it up soon tho. It will just be raised in that section.

I used firestone bags,, pretty much every1 uses them. SMC valves. U can usually get them installed for around 2-3g's including the kit. It all depends on how fast u want to go.

I am not sure what type or year your truck is but here is how to get the headlight switch off in my 97. You have to turn the headlight switch both ways a certain number of degrees and it will pop right off. I know it is vague but if it you still havent figured it out let me know and I will get the exact directions from my repair manual and get back to you.

I'd be happy to tell you everything I know... sounds like you have a different situation, though. E-mail me at gijoecam@prodigy.net with some questions, and some details about the accident. In the mean time, check out this site:
www.lemonaid.com
He's the attorney I used, but as far as I know he only practices in MI. I believe there is info there on other states' laws, and I believe he can refer you to someone in your area.

As for other Explorer issues, go to this site... www.4x4central.com
It's got tons of info for Explorers and Rangers, like this one does for F-150s and Expeditions.

Talk to you soon.
