Clear Front Corner Lenses
Absolutely. Like I said, it was just a heads up, more for inspection reasons. I have never, and would never pull for such silly crap, unless the obvious, wreckless driving, speeding, A--hole, or what ever. I wouldn't want a person on here to spend alot of money on things and then have to take them off for inspection, or any other reason. It's cool. Talk to you later.......1GoodCop

Had my truck inspected here in Fort Worth just a few days after installing my clear corners. Passed without a hitch, so I'm guessing (I'm not sure what the laws actually say about the front corners) that they are ok here. Would something like this fall under city, county, or state law?
What kind of inspection do they make you do?

1GoodCop,
I was not in any way trying to belittle or downgrade what a police officer does in LA., or anywhere in the World.
I have several friends that are LAPD, or Sheriff Deputies They have all told me that unless there is a real reason to pull you over, i.e., speeding, DUI, or just plain driving like an idiot, they, or any other officer, are not gong to hassle you for the FRONT clear corners. However, they also told me that the REAR taillights are an instant bust, because you can't see them during the day. Please accept my apology if I have insulted you in any way.

Well, with all the new cars coming out with mostly clear lenses, it'd be hard for a inspection mechanic to spot. Look at a new 4-runners reverse/tail lights, or a preludes corner signals. Here the inspection station Checkers are bastar--. If I stop someone, and find out they got there car inspected with illegal equip., I can take the numbers off the sticker and close that shop down for weeks, months, or EVER!!!, depending on previous violations. Or take an accident, maybe even a fatal, and the car was illegal, and should not have past inspection, that Mechanic, here at least, has a duty to keep it off the road, and if he/she fails to do so, there are extreme penaltys to pay.
FordTRK, it's yearly for all cars and light trucks, it's pretty complex when it comes to rigs, buses, limos and so on. Usually all it involves is a brake check, turn signals work, horn works, and the insurance and registration are valid. Though there are very thorough mechanics that feel there livelyhood depends on it, and couldn't afford to be shut down, and feel some guilt if they failed to properly inspect a car and it is involved in a accident. Imagine a car gets inspected at noon, and at about 10:00 that night a car with clear corners is making a left and oncoming car doesn't, for some reason, see it and gets T-Boned, and there is a death, is someone liable, or can the mechanic be sued.....ABSOLUTELY...Just Beware, and remember DEFENSE ATTORNEYS S--K!!

F&B, First let me say that I saw your trucks picture with the ram-air hood and it looks AWESOME!!!, if I may ask, how much it was. Secondly,I'll guess and say 99.9% NO! But you never know. I am state certified for inspection laws, that is why I know. And like I said, I love the way they look, and it is probably the next Mod. for my baby. But you never know, some young and gung (ho) rookie maybe out to make that all ever important "pinch" to impress a boss or something, plus you Cali. guys are easy prey, LOLOLOL, just kidding. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Everybody is taking this so far, I just wanted to make some guys aware that's all. The fine for it wouold be $93.50 for it, which is more than the lights are worth. We have a very big truck show coming to town, and you want to see illegal!!! It's the Bloomsburg 4X4 Jamboree here in Pa. Maybe you can attend. Anyway, you come out to ERIE send me an E-MAIL, I'd like to see that BAD-A-- truck in person......

Are the clear corners still illegal with amber bulbs in them? I have the amber bulbs in my clear corners and at night I can't even tell that they are clear corners. By the way, 1GoodCop, which headlight bulbs do you have in your truck? I would like to take a recommendation from a law enforcement officer as to what lights are legal. Thanks for your help.

1GoodCop,
Thank-you for the comments, I really like the new look myself. Not just the hood but the whole front end. This was what it looked like about two months ago;
http://msnhomepages.talkcity.com/RallyRd/fsandbs/
BTW my Lund wiper cowl is for sale if you know anybody interested. asking 60 plus shipping, it's in excellent condition.
I bought the hood from partsforyourtruck.com the hood is not listed yet but you can email Mike for the details.
About the only person who would pull me over in Erie is one of my high school buddies (ex-military) now Erie,PA State Trooper. He would just bust'em for me, probably cause we haven't seen eachother for a few yrs.
The Bloomsburg 4X4 Jamboree sounds like a lot of fun, Erie is only 290 miles away via Interstate 79 South and 80 East. Next time we are in Erie I will email you....But I need your email address first. Mine is provided below for your convienance.
Take care,

As a former defense attorney (I don't suck Good Cop, I take DL's away from drunk driver's now) I became good friends with several officers in my town.
Even though non-clear license plate covers are illegal in Arkansas and most of the neon and led plate frames are also illegal I can tell you that the odds of being stopped for them are slim. Now if you are prowling around in area that has had drug or burglarly problems those additions make nice probable cause for a stop. Also comes in handy for the "boomer" cars with massive bass when they are in neighborhoods after 10:00pm.
That's the general rule. Now there are some horsetails who will stop you for those just because that's how they are.

arkstfan, thats the point, it's probable cause, not only that , it's about whether or not you can get an inspection with out taking certain items off, ie.,headlight covers, smoked tail llights, smaller LEGAL tires that fit, so on and so forth. And please no offense, but we have some slimeballs as defense attorneys, and with you being one, and reading my previous posts, you absolutely could get a client off for someone elses wrong doing, (Isn't this correct officer?...ring a bell), and I'm sure we could go back and forth on legal issues, but this was only meant to be a heads up. Would anyone make that stop for the corners, I hope not, but you never know.

CR1,
I'll have to dig out the receipt, or the box they came in, I forget, but they are D.O.T. approved w/an approval number and certificate. Though, even if the Federal guidelines are ok, and met, you still can get "pinched", if there is a state, or even a local mandate on requirement for lighting. A town near Wilkes-Barre, Pa outlawed all cars equipped with neon lighting, whether undermounted or around a legal registration...blah,blah,blah. I would ask you local police office or you highway patrol inspection team. It's hard for me to tell you from here, but be safe and ask, doesn't hurt, before you go sinking a couple hundred into lighting, and find out it'll cost you more to have em'. Which is, and always is my point, though I'll help where I can.

Thanks, 1GoodCop, I think that that is going to be my guideline for lighting, making sure that everything is D.O.T. approved.
