The Perfect Bugshield?
I am in the market for a bugshield for my 99 F-150 Sport XLT Extended Cab Flareside and Im not sure what direction I should go. I am planning on eventually giving this truck a sporty look, so I want something low profile but something that isn't going to ruin my hood in the process. If there is a brand/type that you really like let me know and tell me why. Also, if there is a type that didn't work out for you and you recommend I not use it I'm all ears as well. Thanks for the info Im sure I'll soon be getting....
I have the Ford bugshiled on mine. It is relatively close to the truck, and looks great. I install many of these. They install without drilling any holes, and they have 4 little "bumpers" that keep it off the hood.

I had a Ford bug deflector on my truck. It did look great; however, it cracked right down the middle last winter so it became history. Now I have a Lund X-Terminator. It is extremely low profile, has the 4 bumper thingies( I only used 2 on the ends to keep them from hitting the hood) and it looks great. i think it looks better than the Ford deflector or the Interceptor but that is just my opinion. I got it from Summit for $40.

I have the GTS Omnigard SE, and like it a lot. Very low profile. Went through the winter without breaking, and so far hasn't scratched easily. Click on "Ford Toys" in my signature for pics.

I bought my dad the Lund for his *gasp* Toyota Tundra. I mounted it for him too. I think that this one shakes around a bit too much. Depends on what you like. I don't really like the loose looking ones.
Enjoy no matter what.
I am also getting the carbon fiber window vent guards.

I have a Magnum Deflecta Shield. It's nice. Fits in pre-stamped holes. Has four rubber bumpers which stick on the hood.

Thanks for all the valuable advice you have all given. Alot of you referred to the little rubber "bumpers" that keep the shield from rubbing the hood, but I've heard that those fall off easily all the time. Is this just non-sense? I think Im leaning towards the Lund or the Omni SE right now. Again, thanks for all the advice. I will post some pics of my truck as soon as I install my Gibson Super Truck today.
99F150Sport....I have the Lund on my 99 also, fits great, not shaking, very easy installation.
I do have a digicam, would you like a pic of it???? I can get one tomorrow (Friday) when it is home from the dealer service dept.

Well I'm another one with the Ford bug guard and I love it. As for the rubber bumps falling off, mine are as solid as the day I installed them. But then mines only 10 months old. Just be sure to clean the area with rubbing alcohol very good before you apply. You want as clean a surface as possible with no wax on it.

I just installed the Ford wrap around shield. I really like the look and the installation took only about 15 minutes. It seems to be sturdy and I like the low profile look.
