Post gauge overlay

I was thinkning about getting a billet or carbon fiber gauge overlay but I was wondering how much trouble it is to install it. How hard is it to get to the gauges without breaking anything and do you have to remove the needles and recalibrate them after you install the overlay?

If you get just the overlays they are easy..they just stick on...the hardest part is getting the headlight switch out to open the gauge pod..

It is real easy execpt for takeing out the headlight switch, like Rouschfan said. Just remember to take your time and be patient. I did one in my truck and it took about an hour or so.

It is hard to explain.....let me go out and do it again, and I will get back to you. I need to adjust my speedo anyhow.

do you have to cut anything to put the overlay in because my friend put one in on his gmc and had to cut around the clear plastic?

No cutting required.....as for the headlight switch..be careful I broke mine! Just pull on it gently until it comes free. Thank god for warranty. I check my speedo on my friends Dyno Jet, I know not everyone has one so you can also try checking out the dash of the car next to you, the Cadillac digital dash is the easy way! Good luck.

Cool

Hey Sports Fans,

First you have to take 4 screws from the top of the top piece of the instrument area (you'll see the holes going up to them)...Now the coller piece in front of the steering collum pops out with a little tug...when you pull it out, put the steering wheel all the way down and the turn signal to the left signal...so as to not scratch other pieces.
Now...the large piece wrapping aroung the gauge (that has the light switch in it), has 4 or more screws holding it...then it pops out too...this enables you to get to the back of the light switch and it is spring loaded...just unplug it, push the 2 prongs and it slides out the front.

Now if I remember there is 4 screws holding the Gauge in place...and 3 plugs plugged in the back that have to be removed.

There are about 6 screws that hold the clear plastic face to the gauge.

If you are installing a white face...you remove the needles, (mark the placment after the stop pegs are removed) when you replace the speedo and tach needles, rarely are they accurate. So... I reinstalled the gauges without the clear face and drove along with a friend in another car whose speedo I trusted...I then noticed when her speedo said 55 and mine said 47...I then got on an open HWY and set the cruise to 47 and used some plyers to pull the needle and replace it at 55.

I am assuming that the Billet overlay just lays on top of the gauges behind the clear face. I would not know since Godfathercustoms.com has taken more than 3 weeks to send me mine. They said it will be here in a couple of days...three times! They charged my Visa 2 weeks ago!

Should have ordered them here!

Hope I have been some help.

Good Luck!
