This is my first post, have been reading the
updated threads since I found this site in August when I ordered my truck. I Have had her for 2 weeks now and finally feel whole again
since driving a Caravan for 2 years when my Ranger...
I have yet to see a topics on fiberglass bed caps. I had one on my Ranger and have a Jeraco High-Rise Deluxe with roof rack on order (should be in in a few days). Does anyone else have a cap on their bed, what make and designs?

I have a Covermaster 1000 with a wing on mine. I love the look. I think it looks a little like an Expy.The wing sets it off. Go to my site to see it cant post Xoom here

Hey mtknee, welcome!

I have a Snug-Top Hi-Liner with a carpet kit inside. I use it as my RV -- so I went with the Hi-Liner for the extra headroom.

Works and looks great, the extra "skirting" on the bottom of the cap (that covers the black bed-rails) REALLY looks nice.

I am interested in possibly putting a top on my 98 flareside. Does anyone have a picture on their flareside with a camper on it? I'm curious in what it would look like. I haven't seen any in my area on a flareside. TIA

Saw the review in Truck Trend Mag. on the Harley F-150. In the artical it says that the top on the Harley would be available to F-150 owners. Of course the ford dealers dont know nothing about it yet but that doesnt surprise seems they are always last to know. Pretty cool cap though.

 

BestNtexas: my manual says something about not putting a camper on my flareside. I've seen tops on them and I've got an ARE tonnoue cover on mine. But a full fledged camper is a No-No. I think it's something to do with the fiberglass and not being strong enough on the sides to support the weight of the camper.

I had a Leer cap on my 98 150 long bed 4x4. Was not happy at all. The quality was not as good as the cap I had on my Ranger. I had a Raven cap on that which was made by Glasstight. Much better QC and fit and finish. It was on a 6 foot bed, and cost more than the Leer for an eight foot bed 4 years later. I guess you do get what you pay for!!!!

I installed a Tri-Glas "Laser" model cab height cap on styleside. They are Leer's #1 competitor in my book. They carry a lifetime warranty. The guys at the shop I bought from sell this cap to the local Air Force base for their vehicles. They have had to return a few that were several years old for paint fade, and the factory took them back and repainted them, no charge.

TriGlas uses a honeycomb glass/epoxy structure much like a fighter aircraft wing. This stuff is over an inch thick and is incredibly strong - they rate it for 800 lbs. The color match to the factory paint is excellent. The cap has a flare along the bottom edge that covers the plastic bed rail protector and looks sharp too. I also got the "Windoor" option for the windows so you can reach in from the sides of the bed. I added a Perrycraft rack system for carrying long materials that won't fit insdie.

All in all, a very high quality cap. Can post pix if anyone is interested.

After much research. I went with the SnugTop (Expo). There are less expensive ones out there. However, mine looks like it is part of the truck. Very clean and well built. Photos availale through "profile". You will need to copy and paste the URL. I have been unable to get the hyperlink working!?

I've been thinking of swapping my cover for a cap. I'd like to see a pic of yours if you don't mind.

 

LuvTheC - I too have a SnugTop Expo on my white 97 150 XLT. I put a Carpet-Liner in it to carry computer equipment.
But tell me, where did you get the electric sun roof? And, what is that cool battery you're using? Your rig really looks sharp! That is the exact look I am going for.

 

ARE Cab High Fiberglass Cap, Looks great.

By the way, does anyone have a good idea how to clean the windows between the cab and the cap? It is very hard to keep it clean, can't reach the windows.
