Q

i like your scoop alot better than the one that was linked that one had a funny nose like scoop.

great job overall looking real sharp. maybe if i ever have the courage to cut a hole in my hood i will gather the parts to custom make one modeled after yours.

wish more of your pics were coming through only saw a few of the later ones you posted.

I'm going to make something out of parts I can get from Lowes

Smok][n,

Its sounds like if ya want one you would have to buy the scoop from Ford now as Neal doesnt have any left. Which may not be to bad, because I think the come painted from Ford, but would need to be modded to fit the F150.
Yeah Joe I want to see it too. I get an image of heat ducts and dryer pieces. Chrome flex tube,

Roushfan,

I thought of that but coldnt find any kind of hose or duct that would stretch and recoil correct when openning and closing the hood, so when this way.

Actually, I was thinking of something a little better than that, but who knows. I'm going there Monday and just seeing what might be feasible at a reasonable price. Just curious, what did the parts you bought run you sleddogg?

Joe, I picked up the parts at a local yard for $12. The foam cost like $12 , and the metal I used for bracing was free. I already had it. Bout 2 hours to rework it all and make it fit. I have really been supprised how tight the seal is on the hood and how little rain does get in it. This morning though, was a little stormy on the way home from work, leaves falling and stuff, well this one leaf got to close I guess, , sucked that thing rite in at like 55 mph. Got home and pulled it off the filter. LOL
I did that walk around Lowes, HD, stuff and couldnt find anything I though would look good other than the foam seals.
I took some measurements and spent a hour or so wandering the junk yard popping hoods till I found what I was looking for. The intake tube came off a 93 T-bird my son fried, but it was the only one I found that was long enough.

How to the Mustang MACH1s with the Shaker hood do it, is it routed over to the air filter and back, or do they have a filter sitting on top like the good ol' days?

i'm sure it would be a lot more work, but might be slick, and a little more efficient - less turns and twists.

did some looking - the new ones do route it around in a U also...

The factory Stangs arent funtional. The shaker hoods I knew went around. I looked at anyay to shorten the passage, but with the MA and all there really isnt a way to do it. The only way I could think to engineer it shorter wold leave the filter to likely to be exsposed to rain through the scoop. Oh the good old carburater days.

Well not exactly what I was thinking..I have the open top airbox from JLP...I was thinking of a flat duct mounted to the underside of the hood,in turn dumping into the top of my airbox..
