Thumbs up wireing amps

Hello

Im planing on adding a thunder form and mtx amp to my 97, F-15 ext cab. I was wondering where would be the best place to run the wires in the cab. Also, how about the power cable? Where is the best place to run the cable into the fire wall?

Thanks for your time.

In my 98 I ran the power and remote down the driver side of the cab, under the carpet and brought it out behind the back seat. I then ran my RCA's down the passenger side of the cab. You want to avoid running your power and remote together with your RCA's, as this may lead to engine noise. As far as running it through the firewall, you will just have to find the best spot you can. Sometimes there will be a gromet, sometimes you have to drill a hole. If you have to drill do it with great caution as your may hit something vital if not. Good luck and I hope this helps you.

Thumbs up Existing grommet in firewall

I ran my power wire through an existing grommet in the firewall. It was up and to the right of the brake pedal if I'm not mistaken. I never put an aftermarket stereo in my 97 but that looked like a pretty good spot to run the power wire in my 2000. Good luck.

Which amp are you running with the Thunderform? I'm running a MTX 4250D with mine and it never gets hot but it sounds great.
I'm looking at a MTX 6304 to power my door speakers if I ever get my HU back from the loser that I bought it online from

Hope this helps

Hello,

Im going to use that amp to run my thunderform also.
I was thinking about using the 6500d amp which puts out 500 watts rms X 1 at 2 ohms. What do you think of the 8s in the thunderform? How do they sound? I found one for $239.95 at velociety.com. Do you know anything about this place?

thanks for the help,

I think you might be overpowering the subs with a 6500D. If I'm not mistaken, the subs are only rated for 300 watts.

The 8" subs sound fine to me. I'm no audiophile though. I just wanted more bass than stock and I definitely got that.

That price you got on the Thunderform sounds pretty reasonable but I've never dealt with that company. I got mine from www.hifisoundconnection.com.

Unless MTX has changed their amps, only the two highest amps will run into 2 ohms on speaker.....they over heat. But as some one mentioned the 8s only handle 300 watts. In my 97 reg cab I have a Polk DX 12 run by a Planet Audio PA2002....about 600 watts.....sounds great - but I usually have the amp turned down to 200 or so - lets everything else keep up!
