New JBL 14001 Blowing Fuse On Long Bass Notes.

Hey I just bought a new JBL 14001 amp works great but on some long bass note like the song from Caspa & Rusko - Terminator, blows my 100 inline fuse.
My set up is performance teck 4 guage amp kit connect to two 4 ohms subs connect 4ohm set up. Do I need a fuse 200? 1200 rms power.

if u have 2 4ohm subs then u will have either a 2ohm or a 8ohm setup..... what kinda fuses are on the amp itself? and what style fuse are u using on your power wire? i have done installs with several 1500 rms watt plus installs and used 120 and up amps anl fuses.

Hey thanks for your reply, my JBL amp has 4x40 fuse, the fuse that are buring are from my inline fuse that is 80 and blew also 100 inline fuse. I think I need to buy a 150 or 200 fuse. I have one fuse by the battery that is a simple glass tube fuse that is 100 and I also have try 80 and still blows.

Read and learn. That much power you should be running 0/1 or 2 4g kits. Your pushing the specs for your 4g wire if its true 4g. Being that it came with that small of a fuse, its prob not true 4g. Max for 4g is closer to 120.

He has them wired to 2 ohm if he did it correctly.

As a general rule of thumb, you want to fuse your wire for the wire, and not the amp. A true 4awg wire can be fused for about 120A, larger wire can fuse with a larger fuse. If your amplifier itself is fused for a total of 160A, then you'd want no less than 2awg wire. You can certainly put a 200A fuse in your current wire, but you could end up doing some Jean Claude Van DAMAGE to the power wire, like melt the sheeting, cause a short, and watch a bon fire happen (basically, don't fuse your 4awg greater than 120A and that if it's truely 4awg).

In all honesty, go for 1/O wiring. Not only is it rated for some 320A, but if you ever upgrade your amplifier to something over 200A or around 2,500Wrms, then 1/O is pretty much required.
