Any reason for an amp up front ?
Made a change .. I lifted the rear 60 of the 60/40 seat ... Actually it looks more like an 80/20 .. But anyway I lifted it 2 1/2 inches and mounte the sub firing up.. Now that I have done this I am Going to build a better box...Looking to get 1.o at least cubic ft air space .. this will give me in between better and best bass for the sub I am using ..Now if I leave about 3/4 of an inch for the sub to move outside the box .. HMMM Let me go measure again.. I always measure 10 times and cut once... BRB
Ok Looks to be able to go 24 inches wide X 8 Inches Tall at the front of the seat .. Then 20 inches deep and tapering down to 4 inches toward the back to go under the bar on the seat.. I did cut out the center support so I can slide the enclosure back a bit extra..
I figure close to 1.0 cubic feet .. I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of .897 .

WOW here's something new today.. I got in my truck turn on the stereo played some bass song with volume about half way up .. All of a sudden I get this burning electrical oil smelling smell.. I looked at my coustic amp and there is some kind of oil in the cooling fins ?? WTH... Also my sub smells like burning electrical.. But I turn it back on and its playing fine .. Could it be that since my windows were down I might have smelled something else burning.. I checked all the wires and they are cool.. All number 4 and number 8 wires are not even warm ??????
I did some reading on this and found someone had a burning smell problem, this is what happened to me.. I had the stereo up and I took off really fast in my truck.. I have got 2 things to check , the voice coil on the sub,, and the amp maybe getting too hot on the carpet of the truck /// BRB 2 let ya know...
Its the DUAL RED SUB... My gain on my amp is like a quarter of the way up.. Maybe the sub has just seen better days , it did sit in a damp enviroment in my old truck not used for about 4 months.. Or maybe its just a pos.. The voice coil in the sub gets super hot in like 5 seconds ,, probably only putting 20 or 30 watts to it with heavy bass,...DARN THING

This is the amp that blew my Dual 10 inch sub rated at 125 rms and 300 max
I had the gain half way up , stereo half way up, bass on HU on 0.. ( AMP WAS BRIDGED TO SUB )
LOL.. I was playing a basstronics song... It hit aroung 60 cycles and KaSplat... HAHA.. It still smells like burning wire , metal and speaker coating in my truck.. So now I got to go by a sub that will fit in my shallow box.. I found a couple of deals on ebay.. But will See..

Man Dual Subs must really suck... I have the bass boost all the way down , Gain turned all the way down , maybe one notch up and the amp is set to 100 hz... dang thing is barley hittin any bass and the dang voicecoil is still getting hot.. Well as life would have it I have to pay all my bills before I can go buying subs so I will just play this one as low as I can .. Dont buy DUAL SUBS, Please..
2nd Dual Sub Blown... Says rms 125 watts.. I blew it with a total of ( Get this ) 80 watts.. Thats what I was told this coustic 241se amp truely produces rms with 0.1 % distortion.. I have made a bid on a ultra linear rated at 300 watt rms and is dvc.. maybe it will hold up..
Dang Ebay I was looking and Deep Discount says I won a BASS sub 700 watts / 350 rms sub for 20.00 .. I dont remember this.. I bet it blows... What in the world is going on.. Why would I buy this???? I contacted them and heard nothing back
Ok the reason I blew th subs was that my box was not big enough.. Found the specs and min.. is .73 cubic ft.. My box is .75 cubic ft before putting in the sub .. so the box was to small... So to much pressure popped the voice coil out.. so say the audio store up the street.. So I am build ing a box , should take about a month ..

Also keep in mind, you get what you pay for.
Wow!
You could put that sub in a .1cuft enclosure and it would not ruin it. You would lose a lot of sound and depth but the pressure wouldnt hurt it. Because it would only be allowed out and in so far. Impediance would rise and the sub would only let the amp work so hard. It is considered the "Q" of the box.

You know what, that pisses me off to the point that if they ever say something stupid like that again. Give them my phone number (985) 285 6469, and tell them to talk to a MECP First Class installer with over 7 years in the industry. I will gladly show that sales guy the error of his ways.
Where do you live? I will find a reputable shop to go in and talk to.
