Perhaps I should have been more clear....

I know where the fuseblock goes, but was wondering from the fuseblock to the underbelly, what route people were taking with power cable.

Thanks,

Ahh, gotcha.

Go straight behind the battery between the plastic and the body. I normally grab a 3' ziptie and pull the wire through that way. Then its just minor routing back to the grommet.

Should take all of 5min.

Thanks Low. Now next question:

I want to take this underbelly wiring route for my 1/0 power wire. This threads helps a little, but I want to be clear. Once I exit the engine compartment, and turn horizontal, I "prefer" to put my power wire in a conduit of sorts.

Can anyone recommend a conduit specification. Material, size supplier website?

If I had to guess, I would probably just use a 1/2" schedule 40 PVC pipe ( maybe 3/4" if that proves too small for the 1/0). I am even **** enough to put together the various fittings (elbows, 45s etc) to make a tight connection to the rear wall grommet you all are sending me to for entry to the cabin. I would then paint it flat black to blend with the under belly.

When I get under the truck I will find a way to attach the conduit, likely via some clamps to the frame/chassis.....depending on where the final route takes me as I travel along the belly.

I simply prefer not to have that 1/0 hanging out there with just the factory insulation sleeve.

Plus, if I ever have to redo this wire....the conduit makes it EASY the second time.

Am I on the right track or is there a better (more correct?) route?

Thanks,

Go back and read on the first page of this thread, 1BadVmax's first post. It says the correct materials to use.

You have the A4 correct?

My apologies for asking redundant questions. I have saturated myself with research over the last few weeks. Sometimes I forget what I have read, where I have read it...and then cannot find it. I bookmark my important threads for re-reading, but them my bookmark list gets really long....

Sometimes I just get lost all over again....

LOL Off to read the firs thread again...

A4? You mean my amp? No I have an DLS A6. Here is my equipment diagram:

I am not worried about others have to say. I have done an enormous amount of research to get to this point. Still researching...piece by piece. The equipment picked is pretty darn good. In fact, to do much better would be splitting hairs IMO. Sure there is better equipment, but at a cost. Then again, others would say I spent Fort Knox on this set up and it isnt that much better than their lowered priced equipment.

If you know what you are doing and what equipment to pair up, you can do well with a budget audio system. By budget, I simply mean...YOUR budget...any budget you feel comfortable with...

This system is WELL over my original budget and I have not installed anything yet. But the time to start is here...now. With the cold weather, it will go really slow.

I still have not decided to upgrade the wiring of the big three.....so with that diagram above and a 2008 truck...would you guys upgrade the big three?

So I am ready to run my 1/0 power wire from the battery to rear wall area. Using these posts, I have found the area(s) where I can mount my conduit. I am using 3/4" caraflex conduit that is liquid tight, along with connectors/bushings.

My question goes back to the entry point / grommet at the rear wall area. I saw one rubber grommet, but that is all. It was an oval shape and way too small for a 1 ga. wire. Am I missing something, or do I need to use this one and drill it out? The outside diameter of the 3/4" connector/bushing is 1". I purchased a 1" dia. drill but made for metal tonight.. EXPENSIVE.

So before I use this drill bit and I can still take it back for refund......is there a hole somewhere I am missing? I am thinking there is no easy way in for 1" dia.

Pull up your rear door sill. Then look underneath the flap for the rear panel (may have to move a few wires) You will see a black rubber grommet. Go in there.

I went outside in the freezing cold with a camera to take a picture of the truck and show that I have no idea where the grommet is.....only to find it!

Wow its in a tight spot. I still may not be able to use it...but its an option.

I am using 3/4" caraflex conduit which has a 90 degree elbow fitting, and screw threads/gasket on one end. I want to be able to screw that into the point of access and have the 1/0 ga. power wire come directly into the truck without touching anything but the conduit. So I have a point in the rear cab floor (behind the backrest) where I want it to enter. Since I purcahsed the damn $30 drill bit, I will use it.

The grommet you show does not allow me to insert this connector (its 1" O.D.)...and if I go from caraflex to the grommet without using the connector, the a small part of the power wire will be exposed to the outside air under the belly of the truck (think...exit conduit, bend up to underside of grommet). Which defeats the purpose of the entire conduit.

I guess I am just being stubborn. The grommet is quite tempting!

Thank you.

I will take a picture and post it when ready.

Id shoot for that grommet. Yes, you may have 3/4" unexposed.... But it would take a lot of work for that to be a problem.... Otherwise you can drill but why cause yourself more work?

ARC where did you get the conduit? I really need to do that, currently mine is triple wrapped with flexing and loom, but i'd rather use a proper conduit.
