Question distance between battery & back wall?

I couldn't find it specifically in the search, so i am asking....how many feet from the battery to the back wall?

I want to make sure the amp kit i get has a long enough power cable....i think the one i am looking at is the duel amp RF kit with a 17 foot long 4 gauge power cable....anyone have an estimate?...thanks-ben

I would get atleast 20 feet.

you will probably make it under the front seat with 17ft. There are a handful of guys with their amps mounted under the passenger front seat.

I have a Supercrew and with running the wire down the passenger side, 17 ft was adequate.

it also depends on where you bring the wire into the cab.

you could always put your dist block at the end of the 17' and then run two lengths of 8 awg to where you need it

thats what i was planning on doing...i have never installed a whole system before....this may sound stupid, but are you supposed to run your power cables down one side of your truck and rca's down another?...and how does ford run all the stock stuff from the oem stuff? i am just wondering. i have pulled off the sills and looked, and there are wires on both sides...i was just scopin' out the job and guesstimating what i need length wise...do yall remember abotu how you ran all your wires...any info would be appreciated. i am still thinking of just taking it to an install guy somewhere.. lol :o

I was like you about a month ago before I started my install; just trying to figure out how to run everything. This is what I did:

1. Ran the Power from the battery through the firewall behind the battery down the passenger side under the bottom trim to behind the back seat.
2. Ran the RCAs into the center console, then under the carpet on the side of the transmission hump up under the rear seat.
3. Ran new speaker wire from the amps up in the headliner down to all of the doors.

Doing it this way I didn't have to worry about the RCAs coming in contact with any power (or the speaker wires either, but that's not that big of a deal).

With my Supercrew I ended up needing about 17' for power, 2' for Ground, 11' for RCAs, and about 70' of speaker wire.

yah avoid any and all power and ground wires as possible with the RCA's

Mine come straight through the middle of the cab to the back wall.

First of all on these trucks it is very easy to wire up an amp. Run your power wire behind the battery to a grommet (search for pics) or you can run it down and back up through the grommet under the pass side sill plate (again search for pics)

RCAs need to be at least 18" apart (except subs those can be run next to power if going to sep. amp) and if they must cross, 90* angles. Remote run with the RCA's

If you need help there are many of us that will help you out. Styx, MSALL, Devil, Creww, Bartak, myself (obviously) and a few more.

OEM = Stock.

i knew oem was stock...i was just wondering what wires were running down the left and right door sills....what do yall think of the rear fill. i plan on buying a 2 channel amp for the front doors and a mono for my one ten. i was either going to hook the HU up to the factory wires to the rear because i am taking out the inf 6x8's out of the front door to make room for my comps. i was gonna stick those in the back, but if yall dont think they are even worth hooking up, i ain't even gonna mess with them. no body ever sits back there except for my two little girls, and they arent even out of the car seat yet!
so what should i do about the rear fill?...ditch it, or go ahead with it. i am getting that jvc kw xg700, or whatever the hell its called.

you guys are extremly helpful by the way.
i really wouldnt mind just letting someone else do it,but i really don't like the idea of paying someone that much money to hook it up, but i know its a skillfull art...
I will have some help from my brother in laws. they are the kinda guys that kinda half *** through it together and crank the bass...i want it to at least look like tried...they scare me with some of the crap they pull up to the house with...

Now this is the half and half debate here. (Ok, one of. The other being grounding...) I am a fan of rear fill only if you will have ppl in the back or if you like watching movies.

thanks guys, i guess i am gonna hook them up, but just use the factory wires for rear fill.

my next question is how do you run the rca's thru the middle console?...do you mean under the shifter and all that stuff and into the actuall middle console? or under it somehow?....this sounds like the samrt thing to do....and low e, you mean space the rca's 18 inches apart from each other, or do you mean from the power wires? i figured you ment from the power wires....
