You said you had it to the jack itself? And how long is your ground wire?

Thats a test probe light. That would work to see if your +12v power source is good though.

Why go through the trouble of regrounding your amp, get your test light and check your 3 connections ON the amp. If ground is in question, put the negative test light on the truck body, and see if you then get a light on the 12V sides. It'll take you 30 seconds.

A lot less work, and it will identify if your amplifier is defective, or not recieving the proper power.

Ground (if this is the problem, your tester will not light), then move the lead to the truck body and hope for light - if you get it, reground is necessary.

A multimeter, analog or digital would be much more beneficial, and would also help you determine the "quality" of your connections, but you should be able to do just fine with a test light.

This is also ASSUMING(your description is a little vague) your amp DOES NOT have any indication of power. If you HAVE POWER, but NO SOUND, we need to look elsewhere, like suggested before ground quality, sufficient turn on current, audio inputs, speakers, or defective internals may be the culprit.
