What Amp Gauge To Use 8guage or 4

Hello i have an Infinity 5761a 6 Channel amp, 794watts and a JL Cleensweep that is tapped into my 8 guage power wire. My question is, do i have a sufficient size power (8guage) wire or should i got up to 4 guage? Also what would be the benefit going from 8 guage to 4 guage? Thank you all

AT least a 4! More like 2ga dependant on length. Less resistance and less voltage drop over the run. Safer. You are drawing too much power through two small a wire. 0-7 ft. = 6ga, 7-13 ft. = 4 ga, 13-22ft = 2ga. And that is IASCA regulations.

I would be running 4 gauge.

If you ever plan on upgrating to more power, run something like 2 gauge or 1/0 so its there and you dont have to upgrade the wiring again if you add more power.

it requires 4 awg.

Not to beat it into the ground... But, that amp probably calls for 4 awg. I with some of the other guys, that if you ever plan on adding more power or upgrading any time in the future, to do 1/0 awg. It shouldnt be too much more money being that we dont drive limosines and there is nothing like having to pull out/re run new thicker wire when for a few bucks more, you could have done it right first. Trust me I have had it happen.

Go for the 0/1!

i would get 4gauge and be done with it. heavy gauge wire is really hard to bend around and hide. plus even if you hide it under your carpet it would look like a snake is under your carpet.

but on the other hand if you had something over 1000rms then 0gauge wire would be the only way to go but other then that it would be an over kill.

you will just have to to decide how much you wanna spend and have piece of mind.

dont forget that wire count is important as well.

I actually used to have that exact same amplifier and I ran it with 4 because the manual said to use at least 4.
