get an amp or no
get an amp or no
I only have a standard cab and I put boston accoustic 6x9"s in 2 separate boxes behind the rear seat, and 2 alpine 6.5"s in the doors. Also I have a pioneer 50x4watt head unit. Does anyone think I should get an amp to let these speakers scream more? or does this sound plenty loud for my small enclosure, I was also thinking of maybe more 6x9's in the back, either custom mounted in the rear side panels, or just more boxes.
Is it clear at louder volumes? An amp will help you get the crisp, clean sound at higher volumes better than your HU can. Distortion is your enemy.
If it sounds good to you now & you don't intend on getting a sub or cleaning it up more, then why waste your money?

True, and yes it is clean and clear at high volumes, but i know with an amp it can go way higher because the nice speakers i have can output maybe up to 200 or 300 watts, and the 6x9's give me enough bass so that i dont need to get subs, and I think 2 more 6x9's would give me amazing bass
If your lookin' for more bass, get a sub, not more 6x9s. I used to run 90w RMS to each of my 4 doors, and 300w to my 10" JL Audio sub. It rocked, hard. Clean as can be. BA 6.5" components in the front & 5x7s in the rear for filler sound. Pushing 200-300W to 6x9s is nuts. I'd be shocked if they could handle it and maintain the sound quality.
All powered from my Alpine V12 series amp.

The only thing is that I dont have enough room for subs in the back besides maybe little 8"ers and I dont want to waste my time or money on that because then thats more money spending on subs + boxes + amps, and that still wont make anymore loudness i dont think,
but hey if I get some money to waste i'll buy 2 8" subs right away and a JL 1000 amp and hook the subs and speakers up to it

I had a '97 standard cab w/ a 10" JL audio behind my seat. They don't require much space, you'll have no problem! Also, you'll be taking a good load off the poor 6x9s and let them just handle the mids and highs... the whole system will sound A LOT better. And yes, louder.
Going back to the original post... In your situation I wouldn't add an amp. Unless you wish to take it to the next level - sub & amp. You really can go cheap since you'll only need a 3-channel amp. Scrap any extra 6x9s and just run one in each door and the sub. It'll rock!

Ha, ok ok guys. I suppose I can price out some subs and amps and see if the 10"s will fit, but i think i remeber since i have the bench pushed back all the way, tweeter told me i could only fit 8" subs in there, but i will go back and check with them
Thanks for the input

I think I'm gonna go with 2 8" subs because nothing else will fit for sure, if i got anything bigger than an 8, there will be no room for the sub to thump and vibrate, now i just need to find a cheap enough amp without spending a lot of money because I laready found JL 8" subs for $79 a piece
Hey bluebeast, check out the phoenix gold TANTRUM AMPS. (check ebay) I just bought a 300.2 for $139 plus ship. on ebay. It produces 326 watts bridged at 14 volts. Or you can go with a mono amp, If your 8's are 4 ohms then you just wire them in parallel amp+ to sub #1 +, then to sub #2 +. Tehn sub #2 - to sub #1 - then back to AMP -
this will make the amp see 2 ohms and produce max output and your 8's will thump! Phoenix gold states the amp's 2 ohm stable. I'm using it to drive 5.25 seperates for the rear of my SCREW, I have an 400.4 bridged to 2 10's for my subs.
The us acustics will work too, and might be cheeper, but your going to have to bridge either a 2 or 4 channel amp to get any power out of it. good luck.
