Yes I am still happy with the Utopias, but I still need some EQing in the upper frequencies. A better Hu could possibly help this out too, but then that would defeat my whole purpose of downgrading.

If I ever make it back into New Orleans I can stop by my shop and see what he wants for a set of PKs. I had the polyglass and compared them to the PKs and didn't hear a whole lot of difference, in fact I liked the PGs better, but it was probably the install. There are so many different sets ok PKs, its hard to say which to go with maybe the K2s or LEs would probably be your best bet. Check ebay they have them for a pretty good price. Your welcome to come and take a listen to the Utopias if you like, but my install still needs a lo of work, which I hope to get done afer I put my truck in the shop since I am going to have to take out the stuff anyway.

Chris,

You know you should try Alpine.

Did you by chance see my kicks now that I have them all covered? They blend in alot better now than the classic grey primer.

Player,

I saw your tank on that website and it is killer.

The 125 is a 5/6 foot tank isn't it? Is that 'blur of a fish' at the top a foxface? If so hows it doing in the reef?

yea ur right on the first two questions. as to the foxface i too didnt knoww how well it would do in the reef but my local supplier told me he had no problems in the past with them in there so i figured i would just take a chance. it has been a couple of years now and obviously it they have done quite well. the only problem i have had tho is that the coral beauty i have tend to bully the foxface.

anyway good luck on ur tank. the people on the forums will be very helpful.

BTW i am in no way an expert in the area i just happened to know the right people.

cgorris,

I just saw the kicks and good work on them, they look great. This has been about the only thread on here that I have been following for the past week or two. Been busy with trying to build the stand although I still haven't made much way on it and to top it off my wisdom teeth have been comming in and I will ptobably have to have them taken out soon (been getting 3 hours of sleep the last few nights if I'm lucky...although I finally got 12 hours on sat. after a 12 pack of natty light )

Hopefuly when the summer comes around I will have the time and will power to get my setup where it needs to be and hopefuly I will add the sub and EQ. I really need some EQing and the stock deck isn't giving me much help either. I am still doubting my fiberglass skill, but hopefuly with enough time I can get them done right. Where did you get the paint for yours and how much was it?

player,

I used to have a FOT about 6 years ago, but but decided to get rid of it. Well I have learned from my mistakes and I did a lot of research into the 120 before I bought it and made sure I got what I wanted now so I didn't have to upgrade. I still know very little compared to what is out there...I remeber when I was looking at corals people were like LPS and SPS and all sorts of other things and I just sat there thinking WTF did he say lol....but I have come a long way from then and can't wait to get it setup now...I was hoping to have it setup by this weekend, but if I don't get moving on the stand it will be a while. Hopefuly once the tank and everything else gets here it will get me motivated.

I was able to make the purchase of the 120 from selling my 2 6.0s! So in a way this is amp. related.

I didn't actually use paint on the kicks afterall. I covered them with headliner material since I found some at a local upholstery shop that was a perfect match and only cost 10 bucks. Another thing is since they are padded I think it is even more beneficial to help kill any reflection so it worked out well.

I had no idea...they look painted or vynled (I know thats not spelled right ) at first glance, but I guess I can a 'slight' difference after looking at them again knowing they are carpeted. Either way I think they turned out good. Do you have any molds of them?

Damn....I am stuck between two expensive hobbies now! I would have really like to go with my original plan, but I am just so concered about it getting stolen and all the work I put in to it getting messed up...The only way to fit what I had would have been to do some serious custom work (some I still hope to do over summer pending on what I do with the console) and it would have been visible/flashy. Now with my windows tinted and the speakers in the kicks and the amp hidden you can't tell there is anything in the truck, which is why I like the idea of the stealth box for the sub.

Oh and as for the baffle over the sub I would asking about it more from a sound point of view rather than an SPL point. I noticed a big improvement when I had the 13w7 firing towards a door (same thing with an e8a) over firing it between the seats or up. It seems to have better responce along with more output.

Yea, I am just trying to choke down the cost of the setup right now and then cost of the LR shortly there after. After I get that out of the way I think I will feel a little better about it, but then there is the up-keep with all the chemicals/salt/bulbs and everything else...it just seems never ending and with all that cost I still have no fish or corals. I guess once I get all this out of the way the cost of keeping the tank will be minimal in the long run. I may look into a CA reactor as it seems it could save some money overtime esp. if your in it for the long run.

If ya have any questions concering car audio feel free to ask, you can IM me or PM me on here or RL or email.

Check out www.caraudioforum.com and www.caraudiotalk.com both good sites, but I find myself spending more time on here talking with cgorris and RP and a few others (well I used to) now I am on RL a lot now and the reef site for Louisiana.

I know what you mean about corner loading the sub enclosure. I have a double view of that really. It does firm your lower end response and boost your overall output but at the same time I feel it puts a bit more slop in your 60hz and up range. Now granted that isn't really a problem if you roll the top end off at 60-70hz but then you really need to stress your midbass a bit to allow them to dig down and get the 50hz and up. I found from my experience that if I don't load the sub and get it up front it becomes much more responsive in the lower midbass region and helps alleviate some of the stress from my midbass and allows me to roll the midbass off a touch higher and of course that also means I can start the midrange higher. So, I guess what I am trying to say is that I can let the big driver do the hard work and help ease the stress on my smaller mid/tweets and reduce cone break up.

Thanks...

I need to get moving on the stand, but just been busy. Right now the tank is sitting in the garage, I suckered some people into coming over here and helping me get it out the back of the truck; it wasn't as heavy as I though it was going to be.

I hope to at least get the frame done by this week end maybe even the whole thing (haha yea right). And sometime between now and very soon I have to see about getting my truck in the shop and getting my wisdom teeth taken out.

Will keep you guys posted with some pictures. It should be comming along pretty fast now within the next two weeks or so.(hopefuly)

Haz, I know this is a delayed response, but natty light??? LOL

Come on, I know you can do better than that!! If you an afford Utopias, zappers, and those JL's, I know you can get yourself a better beer. But maybe thats all you can afford right now!!
We used to call it nutra-rat!!!

Haha...what can I say...lol

I did just buy a 12 pack of Carona Light. However it was accompanied with a 12 pack of natty light!

At least its not the "beast." Even with natty light I can still be an alacholic, at $5-6 a 12 pack I can be a smart one too.

I must say once you get it cold enough in the freezer to where it forms ice when you open it, its not bad. BUT OH MAN does it taste BAD once it warms up, although most beers do too. I really don't mind it that compared to bud light, but overall at this stage in my life I feel that Carona is one of the better ones. As you can tell I am not a dark beer fan.

Oh yea and its because I have those Utopias, zapper, and JL that I can't afford anything better. I am pretty broke right now...I don't even have money to put anything into the fish tank...lol

OK we have talked about gains, aquarium, and now beer...whats next?

Sometimes it's easier without fish. Less trouble and the tank stays nice and clean
