Well all i can say is the appearance is so clean on audiobahn amps. The subs maybe cheap, but I think the amps are good... Thats my opinion. Don't make me break out the voltmeter.

Ok, I admit I may not have been very nice w/my opinion, but it is what it is, just my opinion and I don't regret having given it one bit. Don't give a flying *** if You think I'm "off to a good start" or not on this forum, simply cause you're nobody.

I personally think audiobahn is crap based on the equipment I have had experiance with(friends cars,ect...). But to each his own. I don't like it and I gave my opinions if you don't want people's opinions next time don't post crap up

Hazard269, when staing JBL I was refering to my experiance w/the 1200 w/has been good. Not the best either but decent. I am currently running(awating new equipment), Phoenix Gold T400.4 and old skool RF Punch500A2(yes RF...back when they were better qualilty). Will also have a new install in my Truck when I get it hopefully

A watt is a watt...if anyone says anything else then they are flat out wrong...its like saying a foot is a foot...a foot isnt an inch or antying else...a watt is a unit of measure there for it can be nothing else other than a watt. All the wattage of an amp does is tell you its power output and nothing else. It doesnt say wheather or not its clean or dirty or anything else. And yes byt definition an amp should not color the music.

Most amps can put out rated power; however, this does not make it a good amp. You have to take into account THD although these days most amp's THDs are well below being audible. You also have to take into account slew rate among some other things as far as specs go. Then there is coloration most amps do add or take away from the music and have their own 'signature' so you have to find one that YOU like, who says coloration is bad? Look at tube amps. Then there is durability, quality, and warranty. And, the class of the amp is another thing to take into account. IMO A/Bs are much better than Ds on subs, some will argue this the other way, but I live by what I hear and not what I am told.

So basically there are a lot of things that make certain amps better than other, and a lot more things to argue

Wantofok, I was basing most of my states of JBL on the 1200.1 too. I have seen some people run them with no problems and others with many problems...My opinion of the amp (as if it matters to anyone around here) its a good power house amp thats give you nothing more than power, not the cleanest of amps, and not the greatest of quality amps, but you do get what you pay for.

What new equipment are you getting?

Invalid_access, break out the DMM and see if it does rated power! Same to Wantofok and Rouche...Im curious if the JBL still puts out it max power after however long you've had it. By the way how long have you had it?

I like a good amp talk...lol

Not sure, but somewhere along the lines of Zapco...Are you familiar w/the audiophile setup of the 04 F150's? I'd like to hear peoples "opinions" on that. How audiophile is it in acutallity?

Front Stage - Focal Utopias
Amps - (2) Zapco C2k 6.0s & (1) 4.0
Subs - (2) 10w7s

Will be using stock HU as a theft deturrent. Also not sure what I want to do as far as EQs either Zapco EQ 30s or AudioControl EQTs or DQT. Later on I will either do a P9 combo oe Eclipse 8053 (or byt the time I get to 8055 ) for the HU.

Very nice setup you got their Hazard

As for your choice on EQs I would personally go for the Zapco...all Zapco setup would be sweet. Eclipse, I've been reading, has not been doing to good on their decks lately...I'll try and find a review I read w/was interesting...

Any Custom installs, what kind of enclosures you got on subs/front drivers? Would love to see pics...

I just clicked it, it said it was down so I dunno it may be back up later just try it and see if it works...SD sucks though.

Front will be in the kicks and doors, and subs will be under the back seat.

I'll explain in a little more detail, when I get back.

I have used many audiocontrol peices and they are excellent. It is still a mystery how they sound so good. They will give you the best sound stage ever. I have yet to use zapco I am sure they are good
Hazard you have a great setup I love Focal's.
As far as jbl yes you get what you pay for and I would agree that A/B amps do sound better than D class amps in regard to subs they just dont seem to be as tight i wonder if it has to do with the power supply switching too early (I know I am getting too deep) anyway
My dream setup would be:
Pioneer deck
Audiocontrol eq's and linedrivers
Tube amps (mcintosh or planet audio)
Addire subs
Focal, rainbow or dynaudio mids

Yea the AC pieces do sound great.

One of the amps that is still at the top of my list to try is the Tube Driver Blues...I almost bouth 3 a while back, but the only problem with those is the lack of power...I perfer to have a good bit of head room, which is why I have the 4.0 bridged putting out 330 watts by 2.

Well one reason the Ds dont sound as good as the ABs is because they usually have a lower slew rate making them 'slower' amps.

As for your speakers...man those are one extream to another Focals being an 'aggressive' set and the Dynaudio being "dead" or more "laid back" and then the rainbows being kind of in the middle. I dont think I'd ever run the Dynaudio, they are too 'booring' for my taste, which is why I chose Focal. I'd like to try Rainbow, but I dont have the money to go out and buy some expensive speakers like that and then not like them...

As for my install I will put the tweeter and the midrange in the kicks and then I will put the midbass in the doors. The subs will be under the back seat, once it is lifted up. I will fiberglass the top, bottom, and the back of the box and make the from MDF. It will be sealed of course All the wiring will be done in the center console on top of sheets of plexi or lexan.

I agree on the extremities of speaker choice but my various music taste do that to me. I like the dyn's because they are strong sounding. Keep in mind I have muddy mtx 8000 mids for the price they are great but they are a slowwww speaker.
As for tube amps it is hard to get high wattage but the clarity makes up for it my best friend had a mtx 6304 and switched to a planet audio 754 and the difference was amazing and very strong. I am more of a clarity before power kind of listener.

Did you have qforms in your truck? Did they sound alright after you reinforced them? I wasnt sure how I would like them so I made my own. When are you hoping to finish your project, it should sound great.
The biggest downfall we have is the unacoustical environment that these trucks create. I told the wife I need a porsche. I have a feeling it may be a while.

boston acoustics pro series 10.5
orion xtr 900.2 for the boston

The Q forms were OK. For the price they weren't back but the tweeter needed som adjusting. I just used those in the first stereo to try them out and see how they did. In this install I will be either making my own or as much as I hate to pay someone to make them...partly bc I dont have the time...and then there is the patience...but the box I will be building my self.

I take it by the audio guru comment you were talking about Wantofok?

As for Orion, I think they used to have great stuff a few years back (like your amp) the HCCA was good stuff. These days Im not too sure about their newer stuff as I havent had much experience with it.

Talking That amp looks sweet.

Curious about the specs on the amp tho.
Also what do you guys think of Planet Audio amps.
check it out http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/planet_audio_quadra.html
I was lookin at a RF power 551X to push my sub and components.
Anyway this seemed like the most heated amp discusion going on so I jus figured I'd jump in.
