What amp to get

Ok guys I have a 2000 expy. Getting ready to upgrade teh entire system. Have a pioneer radio up front and a 12 disk changer in console. I am going to be running Infinity Kappa 5x7 in front and rear. Going to get a qlogic sub enclosur for the back pocket. Heres what I am needing... I want 1 amp to run it all, nice and clean signal. I also need recomendations on what 10" sub to get for the qlogic enclosure. Any and all suggestions appreciated. Want something nice but when you want to crank it and you can do so.

Get Rockford Fosgate amp. They are really good amps with alot of power. I have had a punch 360 2 channel for three years and it still works great.

Orion HCCA 275G4 ? Ok, I'm dreaming here.

Orion does make an Xtreme 8004 that runs 2 x 100 & 1 x 400 @ 4 Ohm. There also a 5004 2 x 62 & 1 x 250 @ 4 Ohm. Can you tell I like Orion amps? There are a lot of good amps out there though, you get what you pay for.

Cool

Any of the "name brand" amps will drive your set-up. However, if you are willing to forgo using a single amp, you could definitely get more "oomph" for your dollar by using 1 amp for the 5x7s and a separate for the sub.

It takes a lot more power to drive the sub than it does to drive the 5x7s...

You can get any of the brandname amps and get good results, but if you want to go top of the line and can spare the money go PPI. I splurged on a five channel and I love every minute that it is on. It's more for clarity than loudness: I'm pushing a Boston pro series 12" sub with it in addition to four Boston RX87's

Check out Memphis amps, they are very powerful and small at the same time, great for a truck.

Im not sure how true it is, but I USED to love Orion as well. I used to have a 2125SX and a 2250SX. But, from what I understand the new G4 amps are junk compared to the early 90s stuff.
My friend runs the old HCCA's like you have and you can't get him to consider a G4.
In my older age(28 ) I am not spending the kind of money I used to on this stuff and Im going to give the modern Rockford stuff a shot. I just got 2 500S amps to run on my 4 10s in a bandpass. My 2250SX got stolen last Jan when my house got broken into, my old HiFonics got jacked from my old car, and I sold off my other good stuff except a high current US Amps but its low on power rating.

Please read and comment

What do you guys think of Pyramid?? Back in the day, I remember them to be half way decent. What about now. I need a simple four channel to power two kenwood 6x9's and a couple of small subs for my Expy.

main reason i need the amp is because I have come to realize that the rear channels in my factory amp are blown. The left rear channel whines bad and the right rear doesn't do anything(This is with the stock head unit). I just put my Pioneer head unit in it, thinking the factory HU might be bad and found that it wouldn't even play through the front speakers until I un-hooked the rear two channels. After I unhooked them the front came on and sounded great, I touched the wires togther again and instantly all the sound dies and makes a popping noise(like voltage). Dis-connect again and the front sound great.
Thought to myself, TIME TO GET A AMP anyway.

I am thinking of adding the amp to the rear two 6x9's in the doors and possibly adding 2 8" or 10" subs in the rear hatch.

Another Question: Can I get a RCA splitter(Y cable) and run seperate inputs to the Amp without troubles? I have my HU and my DVD system that i would like to hook up to the same amp seperately, because I have a volume control on the DVD player and would like to get rid of my FM Modulator. What do you guys think. Any troubles with double inputs on the same channels???

DO NOT BUY PYRAMID!!! They are crap. If I were you I would go ahead and buy a 4 channel amp and a seperate sub amp. I would get an alpine 4 channel, and the smallest class D MTX sub amp you could find, won't cost too much but will sound great!

i have an Orion XTR 800.4 and absolutely love it. I havent ever had a problem with it, and their customer service is really good(emails) whenever i have had a question. If you can afford it, go with 2 seperate amps! I have an Orion XTR500.2 running my sub, and the 800.4 powering the seperates!

And as far as Pyramid goes, dont buy crap...you get what you pay for. One thing to keep in mind is, do it right the first time! Save up a little longer and get something that's quality, dont buy something because its cheap and you want it NOW. Just my .02

Memphis just introduced for 2003 a 5 ch Amp ( Memphis Belle) that is as follows:

55 X 4 (can be driven at 2 Ohms also) @ 4 Ohms + 400 X 1 @ 1 Ohm (it can be driven at 2 and 4 ohms also)

It is 6.5 " X 2" X 18 Inches....nice and small and sells for about $400 to $450.
