2024 XL Standard Features - Auto-Lock/Keyless Entry
2024 XL Standard Features - Auto-Lock/Keyless Entry
Just got a 2024 XL Regular Cab Short Bed 4x4 5.0 last week and I'm hoping someone can help me make sense of this. The 2024 XL comes with a long list of "standard" features, I copied this directly from the Ford page from the model and pasted it below:Comfort and Convenience
Maybe I'm thinking of this wrong, but when I think of Keyless Entry Including Auto-Lock, I'd think that if I walk up to the truck with a key in my pocket and touch the door handle that it unlocks? I'd also think that if I walked away from the vehicle with the key fob in my pocket that it'd lock once I got out of proximity of the vehicle. I'd also double down and say that if I left my key inside the truck and tried to lock it by hitting the electronic door lock and closing the door that it'd detect the key inside and prevent the truck from locking. So far, none of those things are true. I can touch the lock nothing, walk away nothing, and if I toss the keys in the truck and hit the door lock it locks it up tighter than a wedge.... have to either unlock it with my phone or spare key.
Lil help? thoughts?

Jeff, my truck has keyless entry and it unlocks the door when I wrap my hand around the handle with the fob in my pocket. You have to be touching the inside of the handle. I think you have to enable Autolock in the settings, I didn't do that because I prefer to touch the lock button in the handle to lock the doors. If you can't get those things to work right, just go back to the dealership. They should be able to help you and you've paid for that help.

I'm the same with the dealership I bought mine from. It's about 2 hours away in Phoenix, but the truck I wanted wasn't available at my local dealership and they didn't respond to my queries about one. I see "Keyless Entry" as being able to open a locked door without inserting a key. If that feature is on the window sticker, then you should have it. But, if it's just in the manual, then it may be an upgrade.
