Retracable Running g boards

Several years ago I had to get rid of my 2015 F-150. I got sick and now have mobility issues. That meant I was unable to lift my legs high enough get into the truck. I'm in the market again for another truck. Does anyone know how low the retractable running boards go? I'm looking at the Platinums, but the nearest dealer is a bit of a drive and I don't want to go there if they won't work. I've seen writing of aftermarket that drop 6 inches, but how high is that from the ground in a 4x4?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi, 1depd - my FX4 Platinum has a stock suspension and stock tires and wheels. The rear of the truck is somewhat higher than the front in this configuration. My running boards are 13" off the floor of my garage at the front, and 15.5" at the rear. The truck has grab handles at ALL four doors now. I don't know if 4X4 is available in the Platinum trims - I think it's just FX4.

Life gets in the way of comfort, doesn't it?

- Jack

Thank you for the information. When I was configuring the truck, it looked like Lariat and up can only be had in 4x4. I really don't have the need for a 4x4, but I like comfort, so I'm stuck with buying one. The Ranger would require additional electric running boards and cooled seats. So basically another 3-4k on top of the cost of the truck. That puts it in the F-150 range.

I visited my local dealership. The 4x4 with retractable running boards is just a touch too high. I had to struggle with getting my foot on top. So in addition to buying a $65k truck I'd have to switch out the running boards. I don't have the energy to do that anymore, so I'd have to pay to have it done. The quote I received was ~$2500. Subtract the Ford mobility "incentive" and I still have to come out of pocket an extra ~$1500 because of my disability. Seeing that, the wife started backing off agreeing with the purchase of the new truck.
