Door Sticker Not Consistent with Ford.com Flyer

My doorjamb sticker says 1609 yet the Ford promotional flyer shows much higher; 3220 for my 2017 F-150 SC Lariat EB with Max Tow and 4x4 Off Road? Thoughts?

The flyer shows the max payload for a regular cab long bed 2wd with the heavy duty payload package.

^ Or in other words, the model that hardly anyone buys, except for contractors or fleet purchases... lol

Or weird people like me that like trucks with a regular cab long bed...

Well dangit! Now I'll have to run out and buy that F250 SuperDuty. I'm going to really miss my 3.5 Ecoboost.

What are you doing that needs 3000# payload capacity?

I used a variety of online calculators to determine if my 150 EB with MaxTow could handle a Grand Design Reflection 5th Wheel. Shockingly, I had input the payload based upon that flyer. I continued to educate myself and found the error and when I input the correct payload of 1609, I come up 579lbs overweight - with an empty trailer.

ERGO contacted my favorite truck salesman and after considerable discussion, bought an F-250 with a door sticker payload of 3056.

Good. 5th wheels with any 1/2 ton truck are not really recommended, *especially* with a 5.5' bed. You will have a much more stable tow with the F250. Make sure you use a factory brake controller, not aftermarket.

Good move. You will not question whether or not the truck will tow it -- and more.

In my town, there's a quarry that will not load anything under 3/4 ton. Basically it has to be a F-250 (or the like) or higher. And they won't let you leave if you are overweight.

It's interesting the prices of the SD trucks too. I recently built a 2021 version of my buddies custom ordered 2003 CC Loaded XLT 4x4 with the 6.8V10. It stickered at $39k custom ordered.

I built a 2021 as close as I could to the 2003 window sticker with the 7.3 V8. Came to $56k. Just over the inflation converted price of $54k of the 2003.

Having built equivalents of my 2004 F150 ext cab 2wd loaded XLT, those trucks are now mid to high 40's. When my truck was custom ordered, it came to $31k.

That tells me that yhe super duty is a better buy if you can deal with the lower fuel mileage and slightly harsher ride. Way more capable truck for less compable f150's from what I can tell. Both a stupid expensive, but it seems the Super Duty hasn't increased in price as much as the f150.

My '07 cost me under $20k brand new back in '07. Box stock XL with just a few perks -- not much.

My next truck I want is a F350 PSD 4x4 and bare bones, and that's around $48k.

If my truck wasn't in the condition and the low miles, I'd be getting a new truck sooner, but eh... put it way on the back burner.

That would be a nice truck for sure.

Keeping the vehicles a long times lets you add to the fleet. I have my truck and Mustang. Next truck is an addition - hopefully within 3-5 years. Never selling mine.

Well, problem is I already got another truck, and a small SUV.

Here's my current fleet:

2007 F150 -- Summer/work truck
2007 Jeep Compass -- Rat
2000 Dodge Dakota -- Summer truck

If anything, I would get rid of the Compass... I'm heading toward 400k on it. I think Chrysler should give me an award for keeping it going so damn long... lol
