My only must haves are tilt wheel, A/C, cruise control, and a stereo. Limited slip is a big plus, power steering and power brakes are okay but not mandatory. I prefer manual everything else.

Ah yes, tilt steering wheel, I set my steering wheel, usually where it would be without tilt and never touch it again. that is one option I can do without.

Obviously at my age all these luxuries are a new fangled invention.
I drove before power anything, almost everything was an extra.
Anyone remember the vacuum windshield wipers on the early 60s vehicles. You had to carefully measure going up a hill in the rain. Too much throttle and the wipers stop, too little and the car stopped.

With all that said, my trucks have gotten increasingly more gadget equipped.
It really does make sense if another person drives it. My current truck takes all your personal settings and memorizes them. If my wife has been driving, I no longer go through the ritual of adjusting the seat, mirrors, steering wheel, etc. I just get in a push "1" and it moves to all my settings. She gets in and pushes "2" and it moves to all her settings.

nice stuff

EDIT:
Hey, I just noticed there is a "3" for settings. What is Ford trying to tell me? Hum?????

Oh, hell - who needs vacuum windshield wipers? Let's bring back the ones that had a handle that extended through the windshield that you operated by hand. While we're at it, get rid of the electric starter and bring back the hand crank. And, "real men" know how to use a manual choke and spark advance too. They also know how to shift transmissions that don't have synchronized gears too.

And electric turn signals too. A real man ain't afraid to stick his arm out in a cold rain to show when he's turning.

The 3 setting is for your mistress. Just don't tell the wife.

Hell, this damned Platinum does everything else why not squeal on me about the mistress on setting number 3? Isn't that what voice activation is supposed to do?

I might need that manual choke J&J talked about just to keep the truck quiet.

Stop lights too. Real men new how to stick their arm out the window with their elbow bent down to signal they were stopping.

Oh hell, now I'm thinking I have to trade my 2014 Platinum in on a back to the past un-pussafied truck!

With 4 wheel drum brakes, a small 6 banger. 0-60 time is maybe if there's a long downhill grade.

Yep, 1 for me, 2 for my wife and 3 for sliding the seat back, reclining all the way and taking a nap while you're waiting for ..... whatever or whoever.

When I took my driver's license test in 1960 I had to use hand signals for the test even though the 55 chevy had electric signals

Took my test in Aug 1957 in a 4 door 1953 Buick Century without air, power steering or power brakes. I even parallel parked it.
