Dark Mode

I've read somewhere about a dark or police dark mode. I've got a '16 coming and want to be able to kill the lights on door opening when I'm in a campground. I'm curious if this is switched on by the dealer, do I have control of when the lights are on or off when exiting the truck? Or can I adjust them through Sync?

I have a switch on the overhead that does that. Haven't used it yet, but it's there.

I have seen it with a factory service tool connected to the truck. I am not sure what it does or how it is activated by the operator. I know the dealer can enable it through the laptop. I assumed it killed all lights even brake etc so the cops can creep up on perps. Like posted above, there is a button in the overhead with the picture of a door on it. That kills interior lights for us non LEO folks, but I think the puddle lamps, parking lamps etc still come on...

A button that killed the stop lights would probably be illegal for everyone but law enforcement

Dark mode means no headlight, spot light, tail lights, etc when parked and open doors. such as at a campground. Being able to turn them off while driving is illegal.

I'm looking to turn them off so not disturb campers at a campground

Are you wanting to kill more than the dome light?

Which lights specifically are you trying to kill?

Headlights and maybe the taillights so I can turn them off when in campgrounds at night. That is all and the only time I would want/need to do it.

You could wire a simple relay circuit that opens with keyoff, and kills the ground to the circuit

I do a LOT of camping, what I do is turn on the parking lights and the fog lights, that's sufficient. If people get all pissy about tail lights and stop lights, they can suck it. And you have to have some sort of headlights. Fog lights put a very low beam and it's not as bright as the regular headlights.

Yeah, it's NEVER a problem. Like I said, fog lights put out a very low beam, under where the normal headlights do, and you are going so slow, it's MORE than sufficient.

It's never been an issue driving through campgrounds with just the parking lights and fog lights.
