2016 ordering lameness

My brother is complaining because he is ordering a 2016, and they are a lot more expensive to equip how he wants over 2015, and significantly more than 2014.

Apparently in order to get the trailer tow package in 2016, you have to get the back up assist AND package 301A.

AND the package is $500 more than last year... more bundling BS

You don't need 301a. The tow packages are available with 300a.

The tow packages are only $200. more with the Backup Assist.

Max Tow:
2015 $995.
2016 (with Backup Assist) $1195.

"Regular" Tow:
2015 $695.
2016 Heavy Duty Tow with Backup Assist: $895.

I'm finding on the Lariat that a few options that I have had in the last 3 Lariats now require me to bump to the 502A package which is $6000 (-$1500 rebate) plus the cost of the option, which is crazy. This 502A then gets rid of the 40-20-40 seat which I have to have and defaults to the captions seats and the flow through console.

When I did it (i'm not doing it again), it said adding the tow package REQUIRED the back up camera, which forced you to go to 301A. And I think the tow package (not MAX TOW) was $495 in prior years, not $695.

All this bundling BS and higher costs are really pricing these trucks out of the hands of common folk. Even XL's. Lower end XL supercabs and supercrews with the v8 and tow package are approaching 40 grand

I knew things were getting crazy when I could buy a F250 superduty crew cab for about 5 grand less than a F150 supercrew when I bought mine in July.

The Tow pkg was $495 when the 2015 first debuted, but they increased it on the 2015 to $695. about 6 months ago.

I just took another look at the 2016. 301a is not added if you add the tow package. But they will add the camera from the 301a pkg. This saves $900 by not having to add the whole 301a package.

Base price increase: $295.

Tow package (with backup assist) increase: $200.

which triggers the camera for $250.

2016s are more money now but you are getting a couple more options.

The govn't is forcing Ford to have a certain percentage of trucks with the backup camera this year, next year Ford will be forced to have 40% with the camera and the following year 100%. So Ford is getting people ready for the camera decree that was ordered by Washington.

Crazynip. There have been price increases every year.

Theres always lots of talk about the price increase but it's a wash after inflation.

There must be something screwy going on at crazy's brother's dealer because the mid range XLT package is not required for the tow package.

That would not make any sense.

Also can't blame Ford for the camera fiasco as it is federal law for Ford to start putting them on vehicles whether you want one or not.

It depends on which package you get.

If you're talking XLT, it is only a $200 difference with the equipment package discount. Add Sync 3 and you would be adding 301a. You would pay $200 more than the 2015 guys and you'll get SYNC 3.

If you go with 302a they throw SYNC 3 in for no additional charge. They don't charge you an extra for the option versus the 2015 price.

Apples to apples.

This is what I would be paying extra vs a 2015.

2016 XLT 4X4 302A 4X4

$295 base price increase.
$200 tow package increase.
All other option prices stay the same.

I would be getting SYNC 3, trailer backup assist, a better built truck with less flaws.

Rambo, why do you always have to bring facts to the table and put a stop to the complaining about inaccuracies? Sheesh!

He's absolutely correct. Typically, the 2nd model year vehicle has fewer issues than the first model year. Especially with something as radically different as the '15 F150.

I mostly agree. Why then my 2010 5.4 3V has the camshaft phaser noises? the same problem as my 2004 5.4 3V?

respect the stuck sparks, yes it has been addressed the problem in my 2010.

The cam phaser noise does not effect reliability AFAIK. It's a simple noise, similar to the noise associated with direct injectors.
