Windshield Cleaning Problems

Morning all. I may be in the wrong place. I am having problems trying to keep my windshield clean. I've tried Windex with a 0000 steel wool, Rain X cleaner and just plain water. I cannot get the windshield free of a film that stays. When I do use my wipers, you can see the film and it will not come clean. Any suggestions. Thanks. Barry

Is it a splotchy film, kinda like oily spots or is it a constant all over film.

I had three windshields in my old 2002 F150 and the last one had that splotchy oil look to it. I cleaned it with windex, Dawn detergent, jewelers rouge, Gasoline, etc. nothing would take them off. They only appeared on damp days, early in the am or after a wash. If the windshield was bone dry I didn't notice them.

Have you tried alcohol to clean the windshield?

The other possibility is that there is contamination on the wipers, or bad wipers.

Try white vinegar, then Barkeeper's Friend. Don'r use RainX, that leaves a film.

The best glass cleaner I've used is Stoner's Invisible Glass.

I second the suggestion to use white vinegar, and to stay away from any kind of "windshield coating". White vinegar will dissolve any calcium film that looks whitish.
