I have a 2013 F150 XL, with power door locks and locking tailgate. The key fob will lock and unlock the doors, but not the tailgate. Same story with the lock / unlock buttons on the driver's door. The only way to lock or unlock the tailgate is by using the key, manually. Any ideas?

 

As far as I know the '13 did not come with an electric tailgate lock. I also just checked my OM and did not see mention of it.
Here is an idea.

Just like the lock on my 2013 FX2 tailgate, still have to use the key.

 

Thanks for all of the replies. I have owned 2013, 2015, and 2018 F150's. All purchased new, XLT, Supercrew. I thought all 3 locked with the remote key fob, but my memory might be faulty going back to the 2013 model. This 2013 XL was recently purchased, and the doors lock and unlock with the key fob and I expected that the tailgate lock would as well. Obviously not so, and that's okay.

 

I had a '13 F150 King Ranch SCREW. If the King Ranch doesn't have an electric lock in '13, I doubt the XL did. Now my '18 has it. You need to move on up!

 

I will stay where I am at, after having the 6.2 in a F150 anything else is a downgrade

 

For the record... None of the gen'12 (2009-2014) F-150s, macht nichts model/trim, had factory power locking tailgates.
